Default Tune only g8gt vs new 5.0 with exhaust! Youll b supprised!

Ok Ive got a couple videos for proof that GM/pontiac produced a badd azz family ride!!! That new 5.0 thats supp to be so badddd wasnt so baddd! I expected him to just walk away and put a half mile on me but we ran to bout 125 and he may have 4 or 5 lengths on me. Now keep in mind he has 4.10 gears and a man tranny! A simple gear change in the G8 and it would be alot diff!!! Im wrkn on vidds!

Lance, the G8GT is an awesome car.

But take it from someone who has owned both cars, they are not close.

The new 5.0 is in a different league.

We raced prolly 5 times and the one longest video that I posted was the most he outran me! Give me some gears and Ill be all up in his leauge! I just find it pretty amusing!

That guy just can't drive.........and you can't base a comparison off
one experience.

Look at George's sig.....He had the fastest bolton G8. Now look at his sig
again his Stanger time is faster with a tune only.

The cars aren't even close. I can admit that and
I own a 478rwhp G8.

DRUGS beat me for that title. He went 12.13 to my 12.16

With longtubes, high flow cats, Xpipe, stall converter, CAI, Tune, front runners, and ET Streets. I also had an underdrive pulley.

Which was kinda my point, because to get my 5.0 auto to run the same times I needed: a tune.

That's it. I could, and did, run 12.teens with OEM tires. With drag radials, I easily beat those times. In worse air.

G8's are heavy, Mustangs are lighter... not rocket science. Takes more power in a G8 to run with the same power Mustang. Especially with the Mustangs better gear ratios and higher revving engine. Personally I haven't had any problem beating them in my family car.

Its not hard to beat a G8... there are tons of cars that can beat them. Hell my Subaru beats 99% of G8's and its not awe inspiring, beats most Mustangs too and its my wife's daily. Its always funny to see people get beat by a chic in a ricer!

For the OP - for sure get headers and gears along with a retune and you'll be happy with it for a little while longer!

Depends on which way he wants to go... to swap to a Camaro rear then sure it will cost about $1000-1100. Gears alone are available now for under $500, if he knows how or knows someone who can install them then it'll be a bit cheaper. But works out about the same if he pays a shop to do it.

Personally I think the Camaro rear is the better option unless your gonna jump straight to a 9"! The driveshaft and axles will still be looming worries with the Camaro rear if your going to race the car a bit.

Lots of slightly used rears starting to popup on eBay now for much less, couple guys in our group have got them well under $1,000, some for half that.

11.88 to a 12.16 ohhh yeah thats really a diff leauge! The guy can drive also! Make all the excuses you want. Im not interested in modding the family/wifes/kids/grociery car! Georges 11.88 isnt tune only BTW is it? After street racing a 600rwhp ss m6 for the past 7yrs ,I think I know a badd driver when I see one! Good luck with your 5.0s.

More often than not, it will wind up costing the average guy $1000 or more to change gears in a G8.

11.88 @ 118.11, tune and drag radials only. That's it.

DA -1500'

Or do you prefer the 12.19 to 12.09s that I ran with the OEM tires and tune only in air from -600' to +600'?

So yea, 11.88 tune and drag radials only vs. 12.16 and every bolt on there is for the G8.

Different league.

The G8 had full bolt-ons. You're questioning someone who has owned one of each and has no bias?

The bolt on G8's they're talking about are the GT's and not all G8's.
