Default 6 speed in a G8?

I want a G8 so bad but; 1) don't have the cash right now. 2) it's only an auto. Anyone done a 6 speed conversion? or is it even possible with the computer and stuff? I'd like to see it!!!!

The GXP has the optional 6 speed but they are usually 5-7k more with the same mileage as a GT. Not very many made and I believe they were only made in 09 not 08. The GXP also has the 6.2L with 410hp flywheel compared to the GT's 6.0L with 365hp flywheel.

I wanted the 6 speed also in this car but wasnt willing to spend the extra 7k to have it with the GXP.

Havent heard of anyone doing a 6-speed swap in a GT but that doesnt mean it hasnt happened. Check out some of the G8 specific forums and you might find one out there. G8board .com and Grrrr8 .net are 2 boards I check out frequently.

If you want a 6 speed manual get a GXP. There is one guy that did the swap to a manual in a GT and it cost him around $9k. It is not worth doing.

^ Correct, not worth it. Particularly since the auto car will be quicker and more consistent.

Maybe so they could use a DOD engine that gets better gas mileage and therefore doesn't get hung with a gas guzzler tax.

there were only 1,829 GXP's made, and as stated above, not all of them were 6 speed manual. So getting your hands on one is very hard, I'm hoping i can find one next year when I'm in the market for another car.

Also none of the GXp's should have been hit with the gas guzzler tax, my car did considerably better than the sticker and based off of what I have seen I would of have been exempt of the $1800 tax on the GXP.
