I have a 2008 z71 Tahoe. I used to have a gto that I loved. When I got pregant. We traded for a Tahoe. I love my Tahoe but I have wanted a g8 since I got rid of my gto. My question is what kind of problems do they have? What kind of fuel mileage do they get stock. Are they good family cars?

Yes great family cars. Roomy, great interior, mpg depends on your foot. 20+mpg. Plenty of trunk space. Easy to mod. If your looking for a 6spd though you can only get that in the GXP model which are still pricey but you get the best motor/brake combo.

Seems like some people are having problems with the AFM DOD lifters. It is a hit and miss but if you do a camshaft with none of that, you will be switching your lifters anyways. Not sure how much of a problem it really is, because i'm sure GM would have recalled it, which they did not. Over all, I like mine - I will be keeping it.

DOD lifter failure isn't common but it isn't uncommon to know of someone that has had it happen ...happened to me first day I got the car. Other issues are front lower control arms, and collapsed strut mount bushings. Look at the service records if possible. All in all love my car drive it daily.

I live my 08 G8 GT! Great family car! I have a 4 yr old boy and a 18 month old girl. We drive it everywhere! Right now I'm having a problem with the brakes, but for $400 you can get drilled and slotted rotors. I'm also only getting 12 mpg. Which i stomp it almost everywhere. But i will be changing the spark plugs and running sea foam through it to help with that.

We traded our 07 Yukon for a g8 gt. My wife really likes the g8 I kinda miss the tow option but she is very happy.
