Look how many 4 door bmws, audis, mercedes, volkswagon, etc are rolling around. I think this car will be great competition for the a4's, jettas, 5 series, etc as far as sales go. there is a huge market for a car that is both sporty and useful, like a suv that is easier to park and gets better mpg. i think this car would be way more profitable than any new gto or firebird for pontiac. plus its already a production car, just not sold in the USA. some new badges and they are off (im sure its not quite that simple but the hard work is already done).
I test drove a gto and loved everything about it, but i thought to myself "if this thing had a bigger trunk and easier access for more than 2 people to ride in it would sell like hot cakes" and here is exactly that car.

Here's a bit of an odd question: what size wheels will fit on the G8?
The reason I ask is because I have a set of 16" snow tires on steelies for my CTS (non-V), and it'd be nice to be able to use them on a G8GT if I get one. I think the lug pattern is 5 x 115, although I'm more concerned about clearance for the brakes. Anyone know?

Looks cool. I'll have to convince my mom to get one, she was gonna get an LX, but with all the tuning problems, and the fact there's allready so many on the road this would be a better choice. Not to metion it probably handles much better.

If you think the goat looks like a Cavalier, you need some serious glasses or a checkup. Obviously size escapes some people.

IF it didn't flop then why are 06 models still on the showroom floors as the 08's roll out. Its been sitting there for a year. And G.M. has dropped bombs before and plowed ahead anyway. The GTO was not a huge success and neither was the 5.7 diesel they offered in the 80's. They still offer diesels, right?? So, we will get more RWD cars. The Cimmaron, and Catera were turds yet the CTS is still being made. And because its a bigger 2-door Cavalier it now longer looks like one? It was a nice car (GTO) it was just poorly named. Why didn't they call it a LeMans like the rebadged Daewoo?

There are only a couple hundred GTO's left in the country. The '06's were still being built, let alone, shipped over well into the normal '07 production of other cars. It was intentionally over built because there wouldn't be a replacement for a couple of years.
The GTO sold very well. Was one of only a few cars that didn't get incentives after '04.
As far as being poorly named, I disagree. It is everything the original was. Some people think that all GTO's should have hood tachs and gaudy Judge graphics on it. I guess the original GTO wasn't a GTO because it had fake add on hood ornaments and no graphics. Does that mean that only 69-70 GTO's are the real ones?
Your other comparisons make no sense in this discussion.
