Default Sell Fbody for a G8?

Ive been debating getting rid of the Fbody for some time. But I just wanted to get some opinions. My car has a few things that need to be addressed and i just dont know when ill have the time or money to do it. Some of which are suspension, and minor rattles and quirks that need to be fixed. Headlight motors, window motors etc . Do I wait and fix these things or am I just better off just getting a G8. My concern is that this car will become harder to obtain through the years and I dont want to let it go if that is the case , but im really getting upset over the stupid little things what do u all think sell for a g8 ? or hold off and fix it ?

my girlfriend and myself have been struggling with this very topic. her ws6 has 110000 miles and it is a bitch to work on. i work on my SS and have no problems, her car hates me. we checked out the G8 becuase of the ls2 platform and four doors for kids to come. she test drove the G8 and said it drives and rides incredible, but it doesnt have that umph like her ws6.

If the car had a manual, I'd swap my SS for one. Maybe when the GXP hits I'll pull the trigger. I want to wait to see what pricing will be though.

I am not sure I can tell you if you need to get rid of your f-body or not I am not sure about the f-body getting harder to obtain through the years. As for the G8 it is a great sports sedan and the question is do you want or need a 4 door car with a big back seat? This is one of the reasons I got the car. I wanted a nice, comfortable, some what upscale, but yet high performance car that I could drive every day and still easily tote my kids around in. I still have my Camaro as my track car. Do you really want a big 4dr sport sedan? If not you may want to wait for the new Camaro. The G8 is a great car, especially for the price, but is it what you are looking for?

The G8 GT comes with an L76, not an LS2. And the G8 GXP comes with a supercharged LS3. If anything, I'm waiting for the GXP. Do you know if the G8 that she was driving was a GT or just a base model? G8 GXP=13 second flat quarter mile and 4.7 seconds in 0-60. Not too bad for a heavy family sedan. Just imagine what type of beast it will become after modifications. One more thing, I'll take a G8 GXP over my 01' Z28 any day.

From what I have read the 2009 G8 will come with the LS3 as the base v8 engine with an available 6 speed manual

Well I could use the back seat but their are just so many things wrong with my car that I dont have the time or money to spend on it. Im about to pay it off but im wondering if im better off selling it and using the rest of the money as a down payment on a G8 I mean Ive driven it and I loved it. Im 22 and I just bought a house in SA which should be completed by the end of the year but my Fbody is sorta killing me one thing gets fixed another goes wrong. I just dont know if I should take it and fix it later or sell it and get me a car I like and I dont have to worry about.

he said ls2 platform (which the l76 is), not ls2... and the gxp will not have a supercharger on its ls3... besides isnt the supercharged ls3 called the LSA, like on the cts-v???

I'd buy the G8..... but I wouldn't buy the new Camaro. I think it sucks!!!!!! It is just ugly.

If you are concerned about the 4th gen body getting hard to get in the future.... I think you maybe ought to HOLD ON to your bird. They will no doubt get harder to get ahold of as time goes on and the fact that you are concerned shows you still want one.

I dont really see a reason why the 4th gens will be harder to find. Look at the 3rd gens you can get one anywhere dirt cheap. Well that is what I see in CA anyhow. 4th gens are no different.

The LS2 and L76 are as much the same platform as the LS1/LS2. L76 has a different block, intake, and heads.............

i drove the g8 gt and i liked it a lot. if i needed a family car i would buy a trailblazer ss, but still i liked the g8 a lot, but i would certainly wait to the gxp. it will be in dealerships within the next month i was told.

If you couldn't keep both, and really wanted/needed to get rid of your F-body, the G8 would be the way to go. The TBSS is next in line, if it were me.

wow sorry to **** people off about the ls2/l92 motor. all i know is it is bigger and it was a gt she drove.

all i know is that in my opinion if you want a 4th gen with a big back seat for the kids, the new g8 gets my vote.

I for one have the right to say what I'm about to say, reason being, cause I am a proud LT1/LS1 owner. #1, the G8 can seat 5 comfortably, compared to an F-body seating 4 and only 2 of the 4 are comfortable, #2, the G8 has more trunk space, #3, the G8's overall quality is better than an F-body, GM is getting better slowly, I'll say it again, SLOWLY!

Well... progressively harder to find them in good shape anyway.
