Default air induction problem.

my IAT sensor is telling me my intake temp is 140degrees. i have a AEM brute force intake which is supposedly make the inducted air cooler right? so the problem is that im losing 30rwhp when my car is at normal operating temperatures since it started warming up outside. anyone else have this problem or have a way to fix this problem? It is a 04 m6 goat if that helps anything. Thanks

I've heard about this - test the battery, it may need to be replaced.

Blinker fluid... J/k in all honesty the "cold air" kits for the GTO don't really offer cold air, just higher flow.

Yep, only thing that will make your IAT colder is nitrous. You should get some and say to hell with the 30rwhp loss.

You'll start running a lot richer if you do that.

Check the sensor. Maybe it needs to be replaced.....

I agree. I have the same air intake and have no problems at all after 2 years of using it. Something is up, 30hp loss is almost like the car is in limp mode. Only other thing I could think of would be a new air filter.

Or maybe it could be heatsoak....Heat will cause the engine to pull timing.

go to caspers site and by a break out harness(mass air flow harness that allows you to put a different iat on the car), then buy a camaro iat and stick it in the front of you air filter, search on ls1gto for heat soak reduction kit

There are some timing tables that pull timing for IAT/ Coolant Temp/ etc that affect power once heat soaked.

Second what oshia86 said on GTO CAI not really being cold air.

Try to isolate the filter to the fender arear and not pull in any engine or radiator headt

Heat soak, is a major issue on these cars. Get yourself a better IAT sensor, a breakout harness, a tune, and one of these. Then you won't have to worry about it.

Most of my posts and the info I find are on LS1GTO.com. That is the new Vararam though, and for less than $300, it is well worth the investment. Maryland speed and Veangence Racing both sell it. I am sure there are others also.

Did you install the intake and then get a dyno tune? It could be just the tune in the car that needs to be rechecked. No need to start jumping ahead and buying things for the car if it's a simple fix. Have your tuner check it out first.

If your IAT is seeing 140 degrees then your computer is pulling a LOT of timing.
