Rear end gears for a goat! Help please!
Okay my friend has a GTO and he asked me what he should do to do to his car. We talked about it and we decided heads cam suspension and nitrous. Well we decided to go 4.10's but it's hard trying to find gears for this car and 4.10's are harder. Does anyone make 4.10's cuz the closest I've seen so far are 3.91 but I haven't found a brand. So I want to know a brand and also does anyone know what size it is? I know a 12 bolt but is it a 8.5 or 8.2? And does anybody make a solid axle? Please help I'm an f-body never really cared to research the goat until now and really didn't think it would be this hard for gears.
Also can I get help on suspension all I've found are subframe connectors and koni non-adjustables so were can I go for some parts on this damn thing thanks.

thay don't make a 4.10 for the stock gto rears. the rear end is referred to as a dana m80 i think you have to order the gears out of Australia and for just the ring and pinion it is around 6 to $700 then another $150 for an installation kit and someone to set it up for you. and i think people have been weighting for months for the gear because of backorders. there is also an 8.8 irs set up for around $4000 and a solid 9" rear kit that needs some welding and will set you back something like $5000-6000 after the center section.

pedders, noltec, lovells, theres the konis you were looking at. king and eibach both make springs. theres a few diff coilover setups out there. the 8.8 conversion really is the best setup for the money. comes with driveshaft axles and brackets you need. then your running a ford rearend that you can get pretty much any gears you want for cheap. on top of that, it pretty much a bulletproof setup. the guy who holds the 60ft record is running it. you and your friend should check out ls1gto.com. alot of good info on there.

Okay that's great I'll check out ls1gto.com and epp and thanks, also does anybody know who makes the 8.8? And would there be any more parts to put in the rear end after the 8.8 to make it stonger and if I decide to keep the stock rear end go 3.91 and make the stock rear will it be strong or will it be like am f body rear end and explode with any good 60'. does anybody have a certain type of suspension they would recommend? One more thing where can I take out any useless weight off of the car? Thank you for the help.

I believe its a 7.75 but im not totally sure... They dont make a 4.10 gear for the GTO... Just slap a 3.91 gear on and you'll be fine, Theirs really no difference that you'll notice between a 3.91 and a 4.10 anyways, If i were you I would just keep the 3.46 that comes in the Goat stock, Its a great gear from digs and rolls....

Just fine. I've done a few 130 blasts but that's about it. Not too interested in going 180. Cruising at 70 mph the RPMs sit a hair above 2000 in 6th gear. Still get about 24-25 mpg as well. Not too bad far a heads/cam car. Its pretty badass to be able to dp a rolling burnout with three guys in the car and 11" of rubber hitting the pavement.

Whoa there Mr. Offense. Maybe you should read what I wrote again. That comment was directed towards your "stick with the stock 3.46 gears that are great from a roll or dig." have you driven a GTO with 3.91s yet? If you had you would def know our heavy *** cars definently benefit from the lower gearing from a roll or a dig... 3.91s are not a big jump from 3.46s but they're enough to be noticeable and help.

^^^^I do agree wholeheartedly w/your statement. The 3.91's were the last in my book and I probably wouldn't have picked some up if I didn't end up getting a killer deal on a whole pumpkin, axles, and spring tuning kit included. W/all the mods that I have done I believe that they have helped out quite a bit. Faster into the powerband of the cam and more grunt from a roll and/or dig.
