Skid plate is only important if you don't want a hole in your oil pan...haha

A lot of people remove it or replace it with aftermarket... It is kind of heavy.

I had the skid plate off the 1st day I drove it home. It was off for over 4 years but is on now. The debris here in MS is incredible. Tons of truck tires laying in the roads everywhere. Afraid I'll actually hit something down here

you gotta ask yourself the question "do i feel lucky today?". the skid plate protects not only against road debris but also from bottoming out like can happen going into driveways, etc. mine has several good gouges in it

Guess we'll have to see....Maybe if the oil pan goes (followed by the engine), it'll give me reason to build it

Thanks for the response, but I already knew that....not interested in spending over $100 for less than 10 lbs.

I'll look under there and make the decision guys, guess it depends on if I feel lucky....It'll probably come off.

there was a girl in so cal , that was on a run with the other goats in so cal , and she hit a boulder and it destroyed the stock skid plate and cracked her oil pan , and when the boulder was done with hers it tried to attack the guy behind her

ive got the BMR on my 04 (which was BMR's goat) , and ive got the holden plate on mine which is about the lightest , but also as thin as paper

the tow brace has no use unless your gonna tow with your goat

the gas tank brace is a safety item and helps protect the tank in a crash , aslo think of it as a body stiffening brace , when i got the 04 goat , the tank brace was missing and i put it back in

I have the BMR skip plate- got it off ebay for $50. Tow brace is off. Gas tank brace comes out for "cruises", like the Woodard Cruise. Goes back in when she goes touring around the state. I don't want to burn in rear ender.

We, in Michigan, have the heaviest truck axle weights in the country which leaves retreads all over the place. Never hit one, but I never follow anybody that closely. I always leave room to dodge something on the road.

gas tank brace is supposed to stiffen the rear of the car. this comes from the guy who knows the most about our cars(pete from pedders).

I thought that as well - as heavily constructed as it is, but I was only assuming

How does it make the car stiffer?

Tank brace works great for mounting N20 stuff too if you dont want holes in the floor

ties the car together. Works almost like a rear "strut tower brace"

From what I remember, it was bolted top to bottom. Two bolts up top and two on the bottom. I don't know how that would tie the car together but if that's what Pete said, I guess he's right.

That thing just doesn't scream structure to me. If it was, you'd think it would be designed better.
