Will the 6.5 backspace work with a 15x10?

No, mine are 9" rims with 6-7/8" BS and fit perfectly. To have the center or the wider rim in the same location you would want 7-3/8" BS, so 7-1/2" would work.

The 6-1/2" would pull the wheel 1" inward & the wider the rim, the less room for error.

Unless my head is running in reverse today, 6-1/2" would be the correct BS for an 8" rim.

What are the combinations we can use on the gto's with racing rims?.
For example I know 15x9 you'll need a 6.5 back spacing but what else works I've seen some nice rims I'd like but I don't want to purchase them and they won't fit.

Ok...got a 04 gto... lookin to buy a set of prostars. From what i am gathering a 15x3 on the front will work... but with what BS? I would like a 15x10 on the back ,and correct me if im wrong but a 7.5 BS? Or if i went with a 15x8 id need a 5.5 BS? Can someone break this down as to what hits and what fits with tire sizes?

I think the info is in this thread but there is so much bad info in with it, it's hard to filter it out.

Rears - 275/50/15, you can run a 275/60/15 but some grinding will have to be done on the a-arms and some "massaging" on the inner fenders
8" rim - 6-1/2" BS
9" rim - 7" BS (mine are 6-7/8" and fit great)
10" rim - 7-1/2" BS

Grinding a notch in the A-arms for a 28" tire-

Fronts - 165/R15 - '05 & '06s may have to do some grinding on the face of the calipers, I did. I really need to take some off the front of the caliper too but I made some .25" spacers instead. It really depends on the profile of the inside of the particular rim used. You don't want to just use less backspace or it will set your tire out beyond the fenders. '04s have no problem fitting this wheel on the front.
4" rim - 2-7/8" BS

Area on caliper I had to grind & (homemade) spacer-

I would look for about a 2-3/4" BS. You probably won't have any problem at all with '04 brakes. The '05-6 front brakes are larger.
