Its basically a direct swap if you have all the components.

But why not go stroker motor or something since it sounds like you will basically have a lean sheet to start with?

Money. my idea is to just Put a 6.0 in it and put a spercharger on it.

right now I Can buy a NIB GM 6.0 Crate motor for 1200. so i figred slide a cam in it and Bolt on a Procharger and i think i could live with that.

plus i could sell the motor i pull out of the car, and have a 6.0 in it.

+1 on what 06 6.0 said. Its a direct replacement, but if you do an Lq9/4 i believe the cam/knock sensors are different

If you do the work yourself you should be just under that, ive seen high mileage clean title LS2 goats going for 8 grand in a few instances.

Also if you look around running ls1s can be had for 6 grand or so.

But if your going to buy crashed then even cheaper.

A GM crate motor is probably not going to have a forged bottom end, and may not hold up to too much boost - Just a though. You should probably have a forged short-block built, or buy one used and be in a lot better shape for the blower.

the 6.0 motors can rev higher, so you might want to look into getting a stock 6.0 gauge cluster.

This. Gauge clusters are different. When i first drove a 5.7 i couldnt put my finger on what was off but i knew the gauges were different lol Once i got back in mine i noticed real quickly however, its even noticeable on most interior pictures if you would care to look.

Default LS1 to LS2

Search for the thread LS1 to LS2 swap it should help. If you get a Casper Cam sensor extension wire you will need to plug it in 180 deg out if using an LS1 computer. The wires cross in the extension wiring.

This happened to me and the tuner couldn't figure it out for almost a year until he did it again on a newer car that gave him the code. I would have thought he could see it on his lap top if he checked codes? The car will start but it will pop during start up.

i know the difference, my point is that my 5.7 GTO redlines at 6k, 6.0 GTOs redline at 6.5k if im not misstaken, so my suggestion was for him to purchase a 6.0 GTO gauge cluster

You have any oiling issues revving that high? You're on stock heads too right?
