Default 05-06 GTO Questions!

So i may be looking into a 05-06 LS2 GTO for my next car. Me and the wife have made a list of the cars we like, the GTO happens to be 1 of them. Since i really never have looked into the GTO's all that much, thought i would get on here and ask you guys.

1. Are there any major problems with these cars?
2. Any differences between the 05-06 models?

Only questions i can think of right now, im sure you guys will let me know of any problems that will/can occur down the road if i purchase a GTO. I really like the interior of these cars, huge upgrade from f-body's.

1. Paint peels from outer door handles. Rear / back seat tops, the stitching comes loose. If M6, the clutch fluid becomes contaminate frequently (simply flushing keeps it fresh). Rear wheel hop. Ignition cylinder wears easily and will be stuck at the worse time.

2. 06 has lighted controls on the steering wheel. color options.

Suspension problems both front and back.
Front the bushings from the factory are absolute garbage but dont worry they will go out soon if they havent forcing u to replace them.
The rear sags, pedders "zero drop" springs bring the rear up to where it should be.
They wheel hop. MASSIVELY.
Interior stitching goes apart.
Steering wheel plastic bubbles.
Fuel rail covers can rupture fuel lines and cause the car to light on fire ( a few have been lost this way)
Parts are expensive, these cars get totalled out by insurance companies VERY easily.
Phantom horn and alarm systems.
Paint around door handle flakes.
Key is gigantic.
E brake on these cars is garbage, but will most likely come broken, if not dont worry unless you are super gentle with it, it will go out soon.

If you plan to mod it there is another such list to take into account.

BUT the IRS is not that weak, there have been GTOs in the 9s on stock rears. But if you make any real power you will also need to replace (or if u dont it will break then you will replace) the driveshaft, CV axles, and the stock clutch has some very low limits. (some people have gotten a lot out of it too though)

Well getting around all the bad does come good. I have owned a lot of f-bodys and the gto has such more refinement. Nicer interior, smoother ride ect. (just my 2 cents). Just more comfort. I have owned 2 and they do have some problems but I dont think anymore then f-bodys

WRP has a heavy foot I see...

I've owned an 04 and 06 and I love it. My door handles are peeling, my steering wheel is bubbling but I don't mind. It puts a lot of smile on my face and thats what counts.
