Default Looking to buy a 2004 GTO is it a good deal or not?

Well a local dealer has a 2004 IBM GTO M6 with 49k miles on it asking price is 17.8k.
It is a single owner car in great shape clean carfax and title with zero rust not a single ding/scratch on the outside.
only bad thing about the car is the drivers speaker grill is cracked.
I was wondering if that is a good deal or not below are the pics

I paid 13,900 2 yrs ago for mine with 42k miles. I got a good deal. I looked for 3 months to find that deal. It was at a dealership with a clean title/ carfax. I would blue book it if I were you. I'm thinking they are asking a bit much for that. I would look for one for sale by owner if I were you. I would GUESS that car blue books around 13-14. Its not as convenient to buy from an owner but you can get a better deal that way from my experience

another thing, these cars are NOT increasing in value, atleast not yet. So they cannot sell based on that, I gaurantee they gave no more then 10k for that car, either trade or auction.

wheel and deal my man, its not worth 18k

Thanks for the info, I know suggested retail is 16.3k for CPO and 14k for private party. I didn't know if these cars where rare enough to be marked up a extra 1.5k above book.
I was looking to get a trans am but I don't have the cash for what I want and I saw this at the dealer and have been pre approved to finance through them.

I've got a beater truck with 180k miles that they offered 1000.00 over book on it if I traded it in, 2500.00 flat and book is 1400.00 for trade in.
So what's a good number to try to jew them down to before/after trade in.

I have no experience buying a car from a dealer so all the help that I can get is greatly appreciated.

I got my 04 with 12,500 miles on it for $16k over 2 years ago... gto values are pretty low right now and that car is way over priced. get them down to like 15k and see what happens.

Its nice, but you could get either A LOT(600Rwhp) more GTO or one that is just as nice for a lot less(Like the one posted above).

Is it actually the dealer financing you or a bank they submitted your info to? If its just a bank/lender call them directly. F them stealerships. Ridiculous to even ask that much. Bastards.

I bought my Cammed/Exhaust 2004 GTO 2 years ago for $12,500 2 years ago with 59k Mi. Put a system in it and new tires and sold it to my brother in law with 10k more miles for 13K. I'd say way way to much fr the onw your looking at. Maybe for a 06 with low MI

Like everyone else has stated, that was far too much for an 04.

I too have an 06 for sale. The GTO is a 2006, M6, Cyclone Gray Metallic, 77k miles. All that's been added is a K&N CAI, Xpipe and Flowmaster Super 44s. It's listed in the vehicle classifieds on this board. I'm in NC though. I'm looking for 15250 but may move a little.

I don't finance but a bank will finance whether it's at a dealer or private. Car has clean title, and in great shape. Check out the thread in "Vehicle Classifieds". And I'd be willing to drive to meet a buyer.

Let me know if you're interested.
