Changed the oil on my 05. Put 5.5 quarts in like the manual said. Ran it didn't register on the dip stick. Added the other half quart let it run then cool a little and checked again nothing still. Against my better judgment I added another quart, only this time it registered low on the dip stick. Added one more and its in operating range. So a total of 8 quarts in my ls2. And everything seems to be copesetic. Anyone else have this issue?

Correction I put 6 in to begin with manual says 6.5 with filter.

mine has always taken 6qts initially then after putting about 5 miles on it, it asks for another half quart.

Unless you have an aftermarket deep sump pan, that is a bit much.
