Default hid problems

I put hids in the goat over the weekend lows and fogs. Well the fogs are working fine but the lows are cutting off when the car is running. And they will also come on when I hit the unlock button but if I lock it and unlock again sometimes they will not cut on. Im thinking that they are not getting consistent voltage. Are you guys running relays in line with your kits? I think this is the problem I know its not the ballast because I have already switched them.

yes pull the drl relay cause the gtos drls run through the same buld as the headlights. in the daytime when drls are on the voltage is ran thougha resistor to reduce the voltage. when the headlighs come on full voltage is applied. also i would suggest using a relay.

you can also make a simple adjustment to a relay that will allow all six lights on the front end of the car to be able to be on at the same time.

Alright guys I made up a relay kit for the hids today. I am running into a problem though, when I plug the signal wire from the headlight harness to the the relay to send power when lights are switched on, the headlights are on without the switch being turned on. I checked the factory harness and it seems to have constent power, any ideas. I know there are some of you guys that have done the relay. What am I doing wrong. I am pretty good at wiring things up, but this has me stumped.

im not sure which wire you are using but i used the wire that goes to the bulb on the passenger side. i just cut of the factory bulb socket and used that wire to turn on my relay.

Alright guys I got the relay kit working, but there is still one thing bothering me. The light work fine when driving or just turning them on and off, but if you use the keyless entry to unlock the doors when the lights come on one headlight will not come on, lock and unlock again then both dont come on. Crank the car up then there fine. It has something to do with the signal sent from the keyless unlocking I think, any ideas. Nick

not sure if it's the problem, but you can't leave the headlight switch in the AUTO position with hids

I do have the switch set on auto, I will change it and see what happens. Its weird though, my trucks lights are set on auto and three years running with no problems.
