Default Randomly Won't Start

So on my 04 GTO I'm having this strange issue. If I try to start the car but don't hold the key long enough, the motor sputters and then dies. Pretty normal stuff, however when this happens the car will not start afterwards. There is no tach signal, no spark, and the fuel injectors don't open. The fuel pump still primes but the dang thing just won't start. This has happened 3 times now, the first 2 times it started after sitting for a while. All I did was unplug the crank angle sensor, cam position sensor, n stuff and plug em back in and it randomly started again. This time I have no such luck. I'm thinking the crank angle sensor is crapping out on me or is there some kind of flood control in the tune that might cause this? Thanks for the help

this sounds kind of like what my car is doing, except mine hasn't started again since. I'm going to try unplugging those sensors and see what's going on.

I'm going to change the crank angle sensor wiring and see if that does the trick perhaps.

Could be the ignition key and contact ring. When you turn the key and nothing happens.... does the security light flash on the dash?

No the problem only happens when I try to start the car but I don't hold the key in the start position long enough to start. I changed the cas and checked the wiring on it, no change.

it's one of two things:

1. Check your BCM wires. They could be rubbing and causing a short.
2. It's your key ring. The metal nub on the key has to make proper contact with the key ring. It's very easy for the ring to move slightly. Just wiggle it and play with it until you get good contact.

Its not the bcm or the key ring. for the sake of simplicity I never said it before, but this isn't in a gto. Its in a 240sx with a 05 GTO ecu and motor set. So its not possible to be the bcm or the key. Anyone have any other ideas

i'm kinda having the same issue....I did a six liter swap and the oil pressure sensor is different...the big round thing behind the intake manifold...you turn the key nothing happens just kicks the starter relay...but if you pull the starter relay and jump across the posts the car cranks all day long but no spark...any ideas?

I've changed the crank angle sensor and the problem hasn't returned since. I'm just gonna go ahead and say that fixed it.

for me it was the fuel injector and ignition coil driver relay in the underhood fuse block
