Default exhaust

im sure there is a thread for exhaust but i definitely have a twist so dont get mad at me. i love the sound of the stock exhaust and i love that it is a (somewhat) moderately quiet sound i guess for being a 6 litre at least. well i want to keep that sound when my girl is in the car so its a nice ride but sometimes i just want to be an *******. so here we go, has anyone done an electric cutout on there GTO? does it affect gas milage? how loud is it? i think they are pretty cheap to buy and install... the website i found its like <100 bucks for one (i know ill need 2) and then install because i dont have equipment to weld with and im quite sure i dont trust myself to weld anyways... thx for your help

get headers :-D It will be louder and it will help you future mods and with tune you will have nice increase of power. And my buddy had cutouts but he already had MS4 cam and headers so it was VERY LOUD with them open.

oh and if you are getting electric cutouts get ones that have at least 3 year warranty. Cutouts like to die on you.

If u are gonna cam the car u need headers to flow the air, valve springs and hardened pushrods to make it safe. They sell all the stuff u need in a kit. Before u buy a cai u need to do ur research these cars like to get heat soaked. The best cai to buy is the svede cai

Cam. It has one. You really need a kit with cam, retainers, locks, possibly seats, springs and push rods. Expect to pay $700-$950ish for the kit and another $800-1,000 or so for install and a tune (necessary). . . and please pick one for the performance to suit your style and not how it sounds. . .

Svede 1212 has a great point you can very easily over cam a car. Just look around at what people have, what power they make and make your decision off that

You need two cutouts and one cam. I would recommend a magnaflow catback with dual cutouts after the cats.

I put headers and mids into the stock cat back because I love the note of the stock cat back. I think it sounds awesome now too. It's slightly louder at idle, but still holds about the same tone. Very pleasing while cruising on the interstate. And loud when you get higher in the RPM's. It'll have some DMH low-profile e-cutouts in the near future.

The Magnaflow exhaust sounds very nice on a cammed car with headers.

I'm biased towards Borla obviously.. Looks great and sounds great imo. If there was a better sounding exhaust i would definitely have to say Spintech all day long. Just my opinion though.

im looking into the slp loudmouths now instead of cutouts. its around the same cost but i think i will be more impressed with the all around performance of the cat-back

I had a Corsa Sport exhaust which was nice - until I got heads, cam, headers. Then it was just way too loud for my taste. I ended up swapping another guy for his Magnaflow and I'm very pleased now.

There's an LS2 C6 vette that runs at my local track that's running the Corsa^^ exhaust system and it sounds nasty in the high rpm range.

Should have just bought the Corsa Touring. It doesn't have any of that high rpm rasp and no hwy drone either.
