Lightbulb 05 GTO A4 to A6 tranny swap

I apologize in advance if this has been covered, but I was wondering if it was possible to swap the A4 transmission out of a '05 GTO with the A6 (GM 6L80) transmission from the C6 Corvettes? If so, would you have to shorten or lengthen your driveshaft for the conversion?

I appreciate any positive feedback I can get with this. Yes, I am very new to mechanics; looking to learn as much as I can. Thanks.

i don't think a corvette transmission would work. might try one out of a g8.. but you're looking at a lot of work/cash.

Corvettes have a rear mounted transaxle, so no.

No you can't put the corvette one because like mentioned it's in the rear where our differential is.

Also, you can physically fit the A6 from a G8 or Camaro, but the gto computer and wiring harness would not work with it. You would have to do a complete rehaul of the computer and wiring system which could get expensive and tough to do.
