I have a question for you GTO guys.....I have to call BS on a friend.
So a buddy just bought an 04 GTO with the LS1 and has been running smack about how fast it is and how much power it makes. I'm not too familiar with the cars so I'm not too sure if he's shooting me straight and I figure you guys could tell me in a rough guess if he's full of it or not. He says he did a cam and bought a bolt on CAI and dynoed the car at 425 RWHP.....I asked to see a copy of the dyno sheet and he said it was an "open house" and they weren't giving printouts. Now I would just call him out for a run against my stock V but he lives about 5 hours away now. I know that the car is capable of making that kind of power but is this something that can be achieved with that minimal mod list?
Thanks
Thanks

In a 6spd, on a dynojet with the happy customer setting on, the best cai on the market (svede's otrcai), in April with perfect air, and headers added to that list i say hell no. Rest assured hes BS'ing you.

I hit low 400s without heads but it took intake, MAFless with a good tune, 80mm TB, ported manifold, UD, 42# injs, big cam, LTs, X pipe and catless with bigger tail pipes on a nice day. I think he's exaggerating. Dynos can vary a lot too and I like to go by trap speeds as they aren't fudged. At 425 he should be trapping mid 1-teens with a M6 (I could hit ~115 MPH).

just the same, NO way an LS1 makes that power without more work.

There's a big difference between 11x and 115. A 5 MPH increase takes a lot more HP. 120 MPH trap takes about 475-500 RWHP. There are a lot of variables tho but you'll find you probably won't get a 115 without a cam or killer DA.
