Default 04 gto headers

I am looking for headers for my 04 gto. I have straight pipes ran right now still with the cats intact and I want the headers to support a future procharger. Any suggestions on brand, size, etc...

Hard to beat Kooks if you want high quality stainless steel. If you want to cheap out then look at Pacesetters. Maryland Speed has good prices.

I bought the engine from this guy. He still has the headers from the car:linky:

Pretty decent guy to deal with.

Kooks for my vote. Just last winter I was trying to decide to go with Kooks or save my money and buy pacesetters. And I talk into buying Kooks and I don't regret it one bit.

Can't really go wrong with any of the high dollar stainless headers out there. I have Dynatech's and love them. If you're looking to save money, get them used when they pop up in the classifieds.

Not really much difference unless you are building a really high HP motor. The 1-3/4" fits better and probably makes more torque on modestly modded motors.

EDIT: I originally said 1-7/8", but meant 1-3/4" (I changed it in the post). That said, I have 1-7/8" Kooks and love 'em. But, I'm putting down about 575 hp with a 150 shot of giggle gas. A bolt-on only car would be perfectly fine with 1-3/4" headers.

Its like the saying goes " you get what you pay for". Now i know people will come on here and say pacesetters arent that bad but if i were you i'd go with kooks, arh, dynatech. As for size go 1 3/4 especially since you wanna procharge.

I have the Jet Coated Pacesettter w/Jet Coated catless mids. I do not drive the car in the winter though either. Anyways I have no issues with mine and had a huge gain in hp with them. Also with mine, I'm not a baller so I went with what I could afford at the time.

I bought my car with Pacesetters and they work but I hate the slip fit connection between the header and mid pipe.

Did pacesetter fix the issue with the pipe hitting the steering linkage?

the pacesetters will make just as much hp as the high dollar 1 3/4 kooks but if it is worth the extra 6-700 bucks to put it in the sig go big. but the steel ones will only last 4-5 years witch is way longer than i ever keep a car .but the exhauste could give a **** wether its flowing through a $1000 set of stainless or a $350 set of cheap ones as long as the pipe size is the same.

also 1 7/8 headers on a ls1 is way overkill for a ls1. 1 3/4 is fine for all the 6-7k shift points . i actually have a dyno graph through pace setters pulling to 7200 rpm.it is low but it is through a loose *** converter and a 9" and the car runs 10.90's n/a. it was my gto i sold it but the guy that bought it put it on a portable dyno chassis at ls fest. but this is through pacesetters and 3 " flow masters i did have to grind the end off 1 or 2 of the fender reinforcemeant bolts but that was it.2 minutes with a grinder to save 6-700 bucks .thats money that can be spent on better things
