Red face goat owners.....need help with a list!

i dont know anything about them but i got a friend who has a...

2004 Pontiac GTO 5.7 LS1
trying to help a buddy....he is wanting to get 500-600 hp to the wheels but stay n/a. needing to get a list of goodies he'll need to get there while on a budget. if anyone has a good reliable set-up could you help out & let us know what your running....brands, support, etc.

also any do's & dont's & a suggestion on a short shifter & exhaust system. any suggestions of what order he needs to do things would be cool. or if you could point us in the direction of someone here you think has a great set-up.

thx guys for your input...

Just really looking for a setup that someone has used that has given good numbers, if im going to do the N/A setup i dont want to be in the low 400's thats pointless so im wanting 500+. Ive looked at TSP and they got good setups but which will work best for these numbers

A guy I know had around 485 to the wheels with H/C/I/E, ported fast 92/92, ported MAF, and tuned. Granted, he was an F-Body, but it was still an LS1.

It really helps to find a dyno that gives you the number you're looking for. . .

The SNL shop near Ft. Worth can get you to 500 hp. You'll need the SNL V.X cam, PRC 227cc CNC Ported Small Bore Heads, FAST intake manifold, throttle body, Kooks 1-7/8" headers, 3" catback exhaust, 4" intake/100mm MAF, and tune.

Batboy, with all those mods would that give me crank 500 hp or 500rwhp? im looking for the rwhp. and whats the cost gonna run me to do all that? I was told doing the stroker kit with forged internals would be expensive but would make the engine more durable, if i can pass that up i would but i dont want to get it then 5k down the road **** starts falling apart haha

oddly enough the only mod i got is CAI, and i pull 3/4 car lenght on my buddy in an F-Body TA with long tubs, exhaust and dyno tuned at 346 to the wheels, from my understanding i shouldnt have more hp or beat him...but we did a 60 roll to where it would be the car not a drivers race and i still pulled him, what gives?

SNL has done 2 or 3 LS2 GTOs that made over 500 hp to the wheels. Anyway, they should be able to get a LS1 close to that mark too. Actually, they've also done a couple 700-800 RWHP GTOs too, but they are supercharged strokers. I don't know exactly the cost. You'll have to talk to the boys at SNL for that. Mine dynoed 430 hp N/A and I can run up to a 150 shot of nitrous, so probably about 575 hp. I'm still on a stock bottom end.
