Default Picked up an 2004 Goat

It's all stock for now, very good shape, 50 k miles...paid 11.5k for it.

I decided on an ls1 basically for price and I prefer the way the 04 looks...hopefully I won't regret not getting an ls2. Sorry for the sh*t cell phone pics....just pulled it in the driveway.

Seems 2 of us brought home LS1 goats today, nice pick up man! You paid and had the same budget in mine as myself.

The stock exhaust on the LS1s sound so much better than what the LS2s came with.

I had an LS2 GTO and sold it to buy my LS3 G8 GXP new, both are way too quiet stock. Even my Escalade sounded better.

Agreed.

Nice purchase, welcome!

Look into some strut top/radius rod bushings. As well as an 05/06 brake conversion. You won't regret it!

Nice ride with low miles. Should make an excellent DD for you.

Nice looking car. I'm sure you won't miss the LS2. With that Vette, you have all the power you need for some fun lol

It's an a4, I wanted an auto for a daily. Yeah I felt like I got a good deal, I bought it from a dealership too.

The car is lowered and has the 05/06 brakes (from the previous owner).....not sure if the previous owner did the bushings or not...haven't really had a chance to get the tires off and inspect it. I am not experiencing tire rub though. All I know is I am replacing the springs asap...they feel cheap...they are blue in color...couldn't find the brand name on them.

I spent my entire Sunday cleaning it...clayed it, did the paint cleaner (Z-PC) Zaino with the porter cable, then Z5 and Z2. (Crappy Iphone pics don't do it justice)

I usually give myself around a 1000 budget to "fix" the things with any car I buy and to swap out all of the fluids...so springs and maybe the tire rub kit from pedders are first up(if it needs it).

Lastly, I noticed some rear end whine...I read that this is a common issue...just going to change the fluid and hope for the best.

That's lowered? lol.

You can generally see if the strut tops were done if the strut tops are sitting flush or close to the body.

Blue usually mean's lovell's springs, what's wrong with them?

Yeah, my rear-end had a whine in it as well....wound up going out completely 150 miles from home, after only putting 400 mile on it after I bought it. Hopefully you have better luck.

****...they are lovell's...after looking at their site(lovells) that is definitely the struts on my car as well.....the ride just seems a little harsh. I am going to get the tires off tonight and inspect it further...

Yeah, I really hope my rear doesn't go....it's not really loud whine, but it's noticeable with the radio turned off. Kind of like a howling when your not on the gas.

Compared to stock they are pretty stiff, they might be the raise springs since the rear end sits a bit higher than normal.

Let us know if the rear end noise goes away after the fluid change.

That's exactly what mine was making. It was odd, I didn't really hear it when I test drove the car. Hopefully fluid change will recitfy it.

Rear end whine is very common with this diff even back when they were new. It will probably go forever with that without issue other than the whine. Many were replaced back under warranty. Mine's whined for the last 4 years. Fluid won't help.

Yup...that's what I have. I am getting used to the ride. It damn sure handles better than my old fbodys. I am loving this car so far...it's going to be hard to keep it stock.

That makes me feel a little better. I am still going to swap the fluid out whenever the torco stuff gets here. I was told to use the type F friction stuff...weird, but ok.
