Default My new Long Tubes and Emissions...

I have just recently purchased pacesetter long tube headers with catless mids for my 2004 GTO. I am currently in AIT in AZ but i'm about to go to my duty station Fort Lewis in Tacoma, WA. I was wondering if anyone knows if they are super strict on emissions up in Washington, because i have never been to the pacific northwest. I am just worried that if I put these catless mids on my car that I will get in trouble and have to spend a bunch of money trying to get them back to normal. The area where I live now they don't even really pay attention to emissions so it wasn't really a big deal. So if anyone that lives in that area could help me out, or if you know anything about it any info would be greatly appreciated

Your car will get OBD-II scanned with a handheld code reader, if you have any codes, you fail, if you don't have any codes, you pass. There is no sniffer test for OBD-II cars, so if you tune out all the emissions/o2 codes you should be fine.

EDIT- But you do have to go through an emissions station, so I recommend cats so you pass a visual inspection if you get one for whatever reason.

Would it be worth just buying some cheap magnaflow hi flow cats and having them welded onto the catless mid pipe?

Magnaflow high flow cats aren't cheap. Well they are if u get the universal fit...which then requires welding.

I've read someplace that u can buy a tuner and turn off the rear O2 sensors. I have no clue if it will work. Or u can hook up O2 simulators. Which aren't sold anymore but can be made.

Call Marylandspeed they emailed me back one day I asked the same question....they said..with the right tune u can pass emissions, call us.

Hope this helps I'm no mechanic.

In Maryland they don't hook up a sniffer...me meaning they only hook up the diagnostics. So in MD fool ur computer fool the emmission. They do put a mirror under ur car but those clowns don't even care if they spot a cat or not

@04gto5.7 is your check engine light on? Do you have a tuner? No cats and it passes...

I know state to state is different. In MD they run a diagnostic test. So the computer knows if the cats are there. Take the cats off and the check engine light should come on.
