Default LS2 K&N CAI installed on my 04

Cleaning out our shop last weekend I managed to stumble on a brand new in box LS2 K&N Typhoon Intake and 85mm MAF. So this cost me nothing. The 85mm MAF will go on when I go for a final tune, so for now I used the 78mm MAF. The only things I had to do to make it work were: punching a hole in the hump hose after the MAF for the IAT sensor, wrapping the MAF with a little silicone tape so it sits in the velocity stack snug (it was too small for the opening and obviously the bolts didnt line up like on the bigger MAF do to bolt it to the heat shield.), and plugging the Crankcase vent line on the intake. This is replacing my DIY New Era clone. On to pics

Looks good, unfurtunatley its a hot air intake lol. I did some data logging with an intake like that and was seeing 130+ temps when cruising. No bueno!

This. That's what happens when you make an intake tube out of aluminum and put it right next to the engine.

The IAT is in the coupler before the tubing so I am hoping that helps a little. I can say a few things about it though. It feels way better tan my New Era clone both fitment wise and driving around. And I also gained a solid 1mpg, Im assuming that is from running an insulated intake rather than having it open. Again this cost me absolutely nothing, so for now I cant complain. I will be making a Vararam work down the line.

Vararam is awesome! I had one on my 05, I'm sad they don't fit 04s. :/

Lol you dont think I tried? I had it listed for a week on here, LS1GTO and craigslist. I didnt even get a lowball offer when it was listed at $200 brand new in box. The vararam will come along with the Sunoco hood
