Default Think the GOAT is getting TIRED!!!

Well guys I think the GTO if finally getting tired. Car has. 140k on it, it's been raced since 30k. Street driving, winter etc... So I think I may rip into.. I ran a buddy's brand new GT and he pulled me on the big end.. I knew they were quick but I thought I can out run him.. My car is pretty basic full exhaust and drag bags.. But it works ran a 12.8 on a shitty drag radial.. I'm sure I could see 12.6 on a new mickey but whatever.. Oh yea stock clutch etc... Never been changed .

My next thing is what is a good cam setup you guys are running I had a custom grind a couple years back and sold it???? Thanks Andrew and yes I've beed searching

Yeah mine is getting the same i just hit 130k, but I got new heads and cam + intake and TB. It helped alittle, but I am not to happy, I am going to buy an lsx 427ci this winter to build on. I feel bad for our GOATS, they been beaten on for a while. Far as setup, lingenfelter has nice packages for GTO's, there not big cams though if thats what your looking for.

Cam selection is up to you, I would opt for a custom grind. I love mine

Try a new clutch and see how it feels. It could be that its so weak that its lost clamping force and its slipping at high rpms. Not enough to notice, but enough that its not transferring 100% power

You silly GTO. I told you he would pull you on the top end. Time to do a motor overhaul and finally put a cam in that sucker. I guess a new clutch wouldn't hurt either.

Love my FTI Street Sweeper HT cam. It used to be a "custom" grind but so many GTOs started running it that I think it's almost a shelf grind now. Broad torque band from 2,500-6,500. I ran 12.34 @114 with stock heads on my LS1. Traction was the only thing keeping me from knocking on 11s
