Default Finally got my $500 FAST 102 on.

Well, I PMed a guy who had a FAST 102. He excepted my offer of $500. Came with all gaskets, a new upper/lower shell gasket, FAST and ARP bolts. I then sold my ported LS2 intake for $280. I ended up painting the FAST black. The install had some hiccups. At one point, I thought one of the upper/lower shell nuts had fallen into the heads. I was planning on pulling the heads this weekend. I got lucky and found the nut under my tire. I had to move some hard coolant lines for the intake to sit flush. I got everything bolted down, and forgot to re-bolt the coolant lines (install took a week, as I kept getting home late). I took her for a drive, and coolant started spraying out of the hard coolant line bolt hole. Anyway, today I used one of the FAST bolts, and bolted the lines back down. Now she is great. I swear, I have read the FAST vs ported LS2 threads, and seen how the FAST doesn't really pick up power on a bolt-on car (this is just part of my cam/stall/nitrous build), but I swear it feels a lot more powerful down low.

I tried to get a speedo video, but I failed. the first video's are me against a Camaro before the FAST, the car down shifts to first just fine and goes.

Now with the FAST, it seems a lot harder to get traction. My car would spin and hook from a 30-40 roll before, now it just gets crazy. Same suspension and tires, video's about 3 weeks apart

Trying from a roll:

Nice. Ported ls2 to a fast is worth a good bit. Ported ls3 to a fast is another story

Need opinions. I had a friend tell me the intake looks really monotone all black. I do have some red paint. Should I paint anything red? Maybe the "R" in red, or "LSXR"? Would painting the R, the same color as the body of my car, along with the strut brace look wierd? Any opinion's welcome.

I picked up around 20 RWHP and TQ from about 3K up to red line going from my LS6 hogged put to 80mm w 80mm TB on my LS1. I'm heads/cam tho but it was a good investment. I like the little bit of contrast from highlighting the LSXr 102.

I saw a member post it for sale a bit ago, it had oil spatter on it. He cleaned it up some more, and I saw him offer it to another guy over a month later, with 102 TB and Nasty fuel rails for $800. So I just PMed him and offered $500 for the intake alone. That's why I had already planned to paint it, but as you see, it really wasn't that dirty.

Takes about 20 mins to get the LS2 intake off. Getting everything fitted, massaged, bolts ready w/ medium strength thread locker. If you are working straight through, maybe 1.5-2.5 hours

I keep hearing that the 102's were to big for stock motors and you would lose on the bottom end. Nice deal though I have a ported ls2 now but we all know they are garbage anyways.

Yeah the 102 is not too big for an LS2. I did not lose any on the bottom, and can tell you, IT FEELS as if it picked up. No real proof, but I can say the fun factor went up lol. I do remember reading a couple threads where some LS1 guys were saying the 102 might be too much, but I know the 102 is usually worth a bit over the 92 as well.

I have the dyno pulls to show a 102 picks up on a LS1. The two different set of pulls were on the same dyno under the same conditions. The low end torque pick up was from a re-engineered exhaust but from 3,500 and up it was from the FAST. Mine is a head/cam car though. You're going to really see benefits when you get more done.

I do plan nitrous and cam here very soon. Also a 4000 stall. Next year will be heads, so for the deal i got, I figured it was a good investment. Now just need to change the water pump lol
