Default GTO tracking/gps??

A buddy was telling me this afternoon that he wants to put some kind of gps or something that he can use to find his car if stolen in his 06 goat. I thought these cars had someway to track them down from the factory?? I know they never came with onstar but i thought gm put something into the computer so you could find the car if some scumbag stole it. Am i wrong? is it like fbodies that once it's gone it's probably gone for good?

Dude, MOST car theives are smart IMHO. If they see that blue OnStar button I bet they rip the mirrior off and toss it out the window.

A co-worker of mine had a big expensive SUV w/ OnStar that was stolen and was found a month later stripped and burned in a field like 200 miles away....

Just my $0.02.....I am by no means an expert.

A lot of cars these days are stolen with a flat bed truck. The car is taken, stripped and you never see it again. The best defense is to move to a lower crime rate region.

guidepoint

They pay your $1000 every day the car is not found after the first 24 hours, up to the value of the vehicle.

So if your car is recovered 5 days later, and is fine except a broken window you get $4,000 check.

THey also monitor battery life and call you if your battery is low, monitor vandalism, monitors if the car is moved greater than 50 meters with out the key in the ignition and calls you immediately, and you can track your vehicle online while it's being service see if dudes are joy riding in your car..

I paid $300 for 5 years of service in 09, never got around to installing it in my GTO but it can be transfered from vehicle to vehicle..
