my question is should i stick with the t-rex cam or get a custom grind?

my goal is 450rwhp on motor and in the 5xx on a 125 shot

You should be able to reach your goal with that cam, though it can't be the easiest thing to drive on the street I would think. If you are looking to improve drivability and achieve your goal of 450 (why this number I might ask?) you could swap in a custom grind. Check out Cam Motion, they do a great job with custom grinds.

well i mean im not dead set on 450 i would be happy with anything between 420s and up on motor. thats what i was worried about with that cam, i want something that will make soild numbers but be farily driveable. the car is not my DD so a little surge will be ok.

have you not got the car tuned with the t-rex cam? i have a 251/259 .650/.650 112 cam and it is a nightmare under 2000 rpm.

you will make over 420 rwhp with this cam and nothing else. i made 423 hp 385 tq on 232/236 .601/.605 112 (essentially a vrx5) but it will have some massive bucking under 1800 rpm with your setup. dont let that scare you though, you keep it above or around 2000 rpm and it drives like a normal car lol

SE-R Spec to your question about if its tuned or not. no the lq4 is not in the car yet,
sorry i didnt say that but i am currently still in afghanistan.
i was just tryin to get some advise on this setup see if it would get the power i was
wanting. what rpm did you take it up to with the 232/236 .601/.605 112?
i was thinking about keeping it around 6500 to 6700 tops

I have never driven a t-rex cam, but just based on those specs, even with a perfect tune, you will get more than "a little surge".

I'd think about looking into a different cam. The donkey dick cams aren't always the best performers. I've seen some pretty mild setups make GREAT power because all of the components are matched and compliment each other. You could pick something smaller and more driving friendly and still reach your goal of 450.
243's off a 5.3? I don't think so. I've never heard of that before. 799's (same as a 243) maybe, but I'm doubtful. I'd double check on that.

i took the vrx5 up to the stock 6500 rpm. i twist the one i have now up to 7000 rpm. the vrx5 was a great cam with a little surge. try getting that grind with a 114 or 115 lsa and that might calm the surge down a bit.

like i stated before, my torque split was about 40 hp. if you want it closer than that, look into a smaller cam like 230 range with .600 lift.

big lumpy cams are awsome, but if i were to do it again, id tone it down a little. im more into the smooth/luxury power now

Mine made 458 on a mustang with a Svede, FAST, LT's and a 91 tune, and a small 230s cam.

You don't need to go with a ridiculous cam to make numbers. You need a cam that works with your setup.
