Default Trac Control won't go off!!!!!

When I first got my car, the traction control button seemed to need to be pressed a few times before it worked. A few days ago I was trying to get it to go off and it wouldn't work. It seems like the darn thing will only work when it wants to. Anyone having this issue? Seems like the first course of action would be to pull the entire console because I fixed and padded my BCM wires a while ago. Most of the threads I find are with people that can't get trac to come on. gahh

I am not having this issue but wondering if your TC switch is the issue? I have a Chimp Daddy on my car so I would have to push the TC button to turn on the control. Since I want it off I never have to reset with the TC switch.

Sometimes the button gets all fucky. Mine had that issue for a very short while, but no longer suffers from it.
I don't think BCM has anything to do with the TC. No need to pull the whole console. Just pull the top off.
1. Remove single screw beneath the door located under the radio.
2. Open center console.
3. Remove top of console.
4. Disconnect the TC and window connectors. (And door lock connector if '06.)
5. Clean/replace button or connector if need be.

Still haven't figured it out. I actually read a thread and the guy said when he hit the TC his car locked... damn GM products lol

Alright. That seems a lot easier than pulling the whole thing. I'm going to get out there and try that today. One of my buddies recommended doing a toggle switch, which may not be too bad of an idea.

An oiled down MAF sensor causes this problem too. K&N air filters are known to do this

Orly? That seems very strange.

x2. Never heard of anything like that, but with all the other weird sh*t these cars are known to do... I wouldn't be surprised.
edit: Googled in and K&N claims complete myth, but then again that is coming from K&N. It doesn't seem like it would be the actual switch though because it works sometimes.

You have never heard of a switch making intermittent contact? These switches are the cheap ones without the gold contacts. Don't rule out such a easy repair.

Go to Autozone and buy a can of MAF cleaner and clean it. It's cheap/easy to do and always needed with the K&N filter. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...entifier=36011

Pulled it apart last night to look inside. MAF was clean as could be. About to check out the switch now. Looks like someone was already inside because the screw under the front door is missing. What a surprise

Pulled the cover and everything LOOKS ok. Is there any way that I could troubleshoot it and make sure?

Use a multi meter to check for continuity when switch is pressed. It doesn't work like a toggle switch, so the factory switch should only make contact while button is being pressed down. You said it works sometimes, so keep playing with it and make sure it makes good contact. I assume it would be little to no ohms on a good switch

ok, lets call pins from top left to right pins #1-4 and bottom right pin #5.
on my working switch, pins 1 & 2 have continuity only with switch at rest.
pins 1 & 3 make contact only while switch is pressed, both read 0 ohms.
4 & 5 have continuity at all times.

Also check the wheelspeed sensors and cables located on the rear diff housing.
