Interesting last I checked a LQ9 could only be bored out to a 408. Going to need better heads and intake and open up that exhaust more. Lot of people skimp on the top end. Why didn't you go with a steel top ring? Rough cam specs? I love my 408 Lq9. What pistons? What kind of lifters you go for? Whats yoru compression? I really dont see that motor hitting 500rwhp and going to take some serious money put into the heads and rockers to help get you close to or over 500. Good luck with it, just hope you have some suspension to get the new power to hook or its just wasted.

I have lunati link bars, I don't even know the cam specs yet but I know Ed will do what he does best, and like I said I know the heads are going to be a big restriction, along with the headers. Compression is 11.9:1, and i have a set of cnc ported ls3 heads thst im having fixed thst will find there way on here. and as far as suspension, it has 1pc DS, 2 way adjustable coil overs rear, koni 90/10 race struts up front, and full time DR. 3:91 geared

So are you using a stroke ls3 block or is it a 408? LS3 heads I personally dont think show any advantage unless you go boosted. I'm a cathedral fan, just get some good aftermarket ones and good to go. If your staying n/a I'd mill the heads and bump the compression up since your only 11.9:1 You can go up into high 12s and low 13's and stay on pump gas.

I'm using an lq9 block bored to 4.065 and a 4" stoke dragons layer crank.
I'll be doing more research on the heads setup etc.

What made you decide on the Vic Jr over the Super Vic? Also, are just upgrading the pump and running stock lines?

I purchased the vic jr when I was planning on a forged 6.0, and now I have a little bigger engine. When I decide what I want to do with the heads ill make an intake decision as well! And yes just a pump upgrade same lines

Thanks! I'm really hopping to pick up the engine today from the machine shop so I can assemble it! I really want this thing back on the road, it's been down since march :/

The longer the wait, the more you'll enjoy it once it's all finished.

By the way, is the cam Ed grinding you spec'd out for cathedral style or LS3 square port heads? I know you have the cathedrals now, but I thought I read you plan on possibly going with square port.
