Dyno #s
I just got my car off the dyno with 48k miles, to get a base line of where in starting. I got 305 wrhp 319fpt not as nice as I expected, with kooks headers and mid pipe, AEM cold air. thought it would have gotten 350 ish and so did my Dyno guy, going to most likely will get rest of the exhaust and a cam soon. will put sheet up latter

no he didn't tune it I just got a base line for more work, and the dyno guy even thought it was low, he expected it to be closer to 340ish. but it has a frankenstined exhaust system in it after the nice header and mid pipe set up.

my tuner said that he could do a little timming ajustments but not much and the A/F ratio was about perfect, he said wait till i get the new exaust in than we will tune it in at that time. Im using a well respected tuner in WA, so I'll just give it a few mounths till i can get mods on this car. I'm in the process of building out a 2001 camaro and can aford much on this car at this time. going to get the magna flow cat back system fot it as soon as my wife cools down over the camaro.

Was a mustang type of dyno? They tend to read a bit lower than others. Tuning after header install does make a difference in terms of dyno numbers, that is part of the issue as well.

My LS1 GTo with headers, exhaust, intake, and an old tune from the previous owner got ~280whp on its baseline dyno a week ago. We were all very surprised. I believe the tune is god-awful, so I will be getting a proper dyno re-tune after I install my heads, rockers, TB, and LS2 MAF. Estimates are that I should gain 70-100whp when I'm done, mainly because of the poor original tune.
The HP just took a dive @ 5200RPM. it was sad to see.

a dyno is a tool to use for tuning. if you're going to be butthurt because of a number, then realize that there are a number of things that could effect how that dyno read that day. install the mods you have, and have it tuned. take it to a track and see what it does (consistently) to judge where it really is. dyno numbers are just that - numbers. the highest number doesn't always belong to the fastest car.
i'd also recommend upgrading the suspension as well.

I'm planning on up grading the suspension as soon as I get done with my current build , this car is atm my DD and the next build ill be doing. wife is a little bitter that I got a 2nd fast car and turned the first one in to a little much for a DD. the car pulls hard so I'm not to worried about the dyno it was more for reference of where I got it at and what I'ma plan to do to it. Really cant believe I get way more looks in my GTO than do in my Camaro. But love them the same.
