Default Cam/Heads package help please!

Hi there,

I would like your help and comments please on the following parts, as I'm about to go ahead and order them from Texas Speed. I'm looking to get at least 450rwhp, would that be possible with these parts?

1. Precision Race Components Stg. 2.5 LS6 Heads & Cam Package
SKU: 199-PKG3
dum - PRC .650" Dual Valvespring Kit
dum - Texas Speed TorquerV3 Camshaft
dum - 112 LSA
dum - 7.400"

2. SLP Oil Pump/Timing Chain Package, 1998-02 LS1 Heavy-Duty
SKU: 38-55002

3. Basic Heads & Camshaft Bolt & Gasket Kit
SKU: 28-HCBasic

4. F.A.S.T. LSXR Billet Fuel Rail Kit
SKU: 111-146027-KIT
dum - No Fitting

My car is Pontiac GTO 2004 LS1 5.7L Auto.

The mods that I'm currently running are:

1. Full exhaust system (2.5 Flowmaster cat back & 3" Headers 4 into 1 long & Flowmaster high flow cats).

2. Fast LSXR 102mm manifold with LS2 fly by wire TB.

3. SLP underdrive pulley.

4. SLP 160* degree thermostat.

5. MSD spark plugs leads.

6. Ramjet over the radiator intake(OTR) without maf sensor(mafless tuned).

7. 3.9 diff gears

8. 3500rpm hi stall torque converter.

9. Stage 2 shift kit.

10. Trans intercooler.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you..

Sure that number is possible, but dynos vary so don't count on it

Very close to my setup, only I have a fast 90-90 setup, and m6 last dynod 452rwhp best was 458rwhp 399tq , you will need to get a ported fast102 to get closer to the 450rwhp with auto. (ported fast 102 is the next part im buying)

Try not to be so caught up with numbers.

The 3.91 gear and stall is gonna hurt your numbers big time but will prove their worth at the track.

one thing I would DEFINITELY add is the rocker arm trunion on upgrade and a transmission cooler.

Thanks guys for your comments. Another thing I forgot to ask is that, if I do fly cut the pistons will it make any difference?

Do you think that the heads I'm getting are as good as AFR 205 or similar?

Cheers

I checked in Texas Speed website, they don't recommend the use of rockers due to the high lift of the cam 231/234 643/598 112LSA. And I do have trans cooler

Thanks

Do you mean the throttle body? I got the LS2 92mm, I'll try that if it works good with my setup I'll keep it, if not then I'll buy NW 102mm.

By the way good numbers you got there man

Thanks and No I mean having Tony Mammo or equivalent port the 102, all the intakes choke head flow numbers. a fast 102 on a head that flows 315 @ .600 lift with the fast 102 will only flow around 275cfm. try doing a search

I'll do the search but I'm not sure if they do it here in Australia though.

You might get close but the automatic tranny and the gears will scrub off some dyno numbers. But who cares, right???? Chasing dyno numbers is crazy, they are just the by-product of an engine's output on a particular day on a particular dyno. Other than bragging rights they are over relied upon. Big dyno numbers do not translate in to the faster car, the better running car or the better driver. Enjoy the ride, not the dyno sheet.

You make a lot of sense man haha that's right who cares! As long as the car runs fast and lumpy enough that's what I need really. But still good dyno numbers will make me happy too lol
