O2 sensors... swapable?
Can the front and rear O2 sensors be swapped without issues?
'05\'06 GTO engine and trans swapped into a non-GTO.
I'm not using the rear O2's and had the E40 PCM reprogrammed. I've been chasing an tuning issue and swapped the unused rear O2 sensors for the fronts and it worked fine for a couple days. Now it's throwing P0134\P0154 codes telling me the front O2 sensors are inactive. It didn't run any differently with the CEL on.
Are they compatible? I realize the part numbers are different.
Thanks

I know the part numbers are different. That's why I asked, but I see all kinds of threads (on multiple sites) telling people to swap them for troubleshooting, or to "save money" so I gave it a shot to see what would happen. I can always wire the originals back in.
The strange thing is the car runs exactly the same as it did before even with the CEL on. I drive it daily. I know I'm confusing the PCM and probably ruining the fuel mileage, not to mention the possibility of hurting something, but until I buy new ones, it is what it is.
It wasn't that difficult...but trying to cross Delphi wiring to off-brand wiring to Denso wiring and match it to the factory harness wiring was tricky. The 2 heater wires were the easy part, but I had to take an educated guess at the other two. No wiring diagrams match and the sensor harness wiring is impossible to match up. It's only 4 wires so I stabbed at it. They worked fine for a couple days, then throw codes.
I'm finding that this is one of those areas where there's always the same answers...Yes you can, or No you can't.
