Default Well this blows...

Got under the car last night, because I was having chattering/knocking sounds from underneath. My first thought was well, that would suck if it was the driveshaft. When I got it on the lift; guess what, the carrier bearing is toast. Now it's time to get a driveshaft............. Apparently it didn't like 400whp. Should I just buy a 1 piece, or what are you guys running and like? Car is 406whp and on spray 550whp+. I will be doing a set of heads in spring. So my numbers are probably going to be higher.

I had a 2 piece DSS Chromoly that was really smooth. A lot of people are using a one piece aluminum. Or you might try LS Candy Shop Parts and see if they have a replacement.

Stock cars kill the carrier all the time...it wasn't the power.

the 1 piece GTO shafts are problematic. even the perfectly balanced ones can vibrate at highway speeds. only successful known workaround is an ultra light ultra expensive carbon fiber shaft. even those are probably resonating lightly. the stock shaft should do ya if you are not popping the clutch on drag strips coated with traction compound
