Stock GTO with headers is KOTS???? So I know this is the GTO forum and people are biased to thier cars BUT... Locally we have this guy who has a stock internals 04 GTO with LS1 auto. It has headers, straight pipes, CAI, and a mail order tune. All the sudden he is beating cars that are lighter than him with more power and equal weight cars with more power. He is claiming he is around 310rwhp yet he is beating cars that are the same weight or lighter that are 360rwhp and up....
the kicker is, he has a Nitrous express kit plumbed but claims the bottle is empty and no switches are hooked up.
It all feels fishy. He is beating new mustang 5.0's. Cammed headers LS1 trans am. 04 LS6 bolt on CTS-V making 370rwhp. 2010 Mazda speed3 with 380fwhp. and few more.
When I say beating, he is leaving these cars in the dust.
Does this sound on par with a GTO like this?

Yeah he is probably hiding something. My Dad use to have an '06 GTO automatic with the better LS2 motor. With full exhaust and tune I ran a best of 12.4 at 111mph in the 1/4, so an '04 LS1 car will probably run a couple tenths and mph slower which isn't enough to burn the cars you listed.

There's nothing to be "wtf" about. Headers really wakes up a car (as does a tune on the auto) and an 100 shot can be deadly on top of that.
That is given that he's actually truthful about said mods. For all you know, he could have a stall in there and that 100 shot could be more of a 150-200.
But even with the mods being as they are, I don't see anything out of the ordinary in what he's running and the cars he's pulling on.

Really? An LS1 making 350crank HP stock can get close to 480-500rwhp (assumed based on other cars of similar weight and build running similar times in the 1/4) from headers, 100shot and a tune done with a novice using a handheld device? :/ sounds way over the top to me. But maybe I'm inexperienced.

I never said it was making anything remotely close to 480rwhp. And you're only assuming that it's a novice using a handheld. Clearly by the fact the the car is whooping your *** and others alike, he's far from a "novice". No offense meant, but you sound like more of a novice than him...
He may not be giving you all the details of his exact mods, but once again I have no reason to doubt that a properly setup and most likely stalled LS1 with headers and nitrous can blow the doors off a 400rwhp Corvette.

Wasn't trying to argue who is a novice and who is a good driver or any other factor. You can be the most experienced driver in the world, that's not gonna a car have much more power than it should. I threw out 480+HP because that's what it has seemed to take other cars of similar weight and gearing to run those speeds. Just saying...
And if not plausible... What kind of mods might he car have to get to that 1/4 time? The kid swear up and down the car is stock as far as he knows. So what could be done. Didn't intend this to be a bashing thread or a hate on Gto thread, just trying to get opinions from the people who know these cars best. Cmon guys.

He clearly knows enough about cars seeing as he's whooping so many other cars including yours. And I would venture to say he knows more about cars than you seeing as how he's out building street monsters and you're on here asking questions. Sounds like you're just salty about the loss.
