Stock shift **** questions
So, for Christmas my brother got me a Hinson Short Throw shifter which uses the stock ****. I'm in the process of partially restoring my Goat while upgrading it's performance and customizing it to my liking, but I'm having an issue finding the silver insert with the gear pattern set in:
with something this small, I'm looking to go the most direct/least expensive route. I checked a couple parts places, and they sell individual parts, but nothing that comes with the orange stitching to match my car. Is it possible to remove the silver insert without destroying it and putting a new one onto my existing **** with the matched stitching? Does anyone on the forum here have experience with anything like this?

Slip a very thin screwdriver under the front plastic between it/ leather and gently pry it up. As it lifts, push up with your thumbs on the lower rear part of the plastic and it will lift off. This is what the plastic piece looks like off: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287892
They do not sell just the plastic silver piece and you will need to buy a new **** if you need it. The 2009 G8 shift **** (comes with boot that will need to be removed) is almost exactly the same and you can get it for around $100 (GM part # 92201936). There are no parts on a GTO that are inexpensive and the G8 **** is a bargain.

I can't quite tell from the pictures of the part number you linked, but is the G8 version a brushed metal finish? I think that'd be my number one requirement for this. Now I really wish I would have gotten a closer look at a manual SS a local dealership just sold that was a manual to see if that was manual If that is the case, I could just swap the handle onto the Hinson short shifter I just bought. I'd love to get the metal insert's pattern inset painted orange to match my car

Found on JHP they sell just the **** I'm looking for... But they want $200 :/ It's cheaper to buy just the whole **** assembly but I'll kinda feel bad for tearing up a perfectly good shifter

2006 GTO gear shifter controls. I think Fusion is what you want and the **** will be attached to the lever and need to be removed. It doesn't show as "discontinued" but it might be so start searching.

JHP can eat a bag of dicks with their prices and customer service.
I remember when I bought their lip spoiler that utilized the stock bolt holes. I had issues with the paint bubbling along the edge. When I took it back to my paint guy, he looked at it and noticed it was happening right on a seam and mentioned that the inside of the spoiler wasn't sealed. I sent it to JHP, and all they did was try to blame the paint guy saying it was a rather poor paint job and they would fix the issue for $300. I refused that offer, sent it back to my paint guy who sealed it and repainted it, and haven't had an issue since. That was probably 6 years ago.

Wherever I looked, I couldn't find matching part numbers for that specifically stitched ****. And yeah, JHP can eat a bag of dicks- couldn't have said it better myself lol
Honestly, you guys are the reason why I frequent to LS1Tech. I haven't found a better community yet
Now if just there was a dedicated B-Body section...

Unfortunately, the B-Body community spent too long being overrun by the rim-spinnin', gold-grillin' crowd. So, most of the useful members of those groups jumped ship to let the retards run amok.
