FWIW, keep the skid plate or swap in a lighter one. I use the SLP skid plate which is much, much lighter. But do not go without a skid plate altogether. Mine has saved me more than once from a parking curb pealing my oil pan like a grape. Cheap insurance.

I'd start with the easy stuff like the skid plate and rear tow brace, and move from there. I'll never do everything I want to a car all at once because you never know if a project might change direction!

I agree with this! My BMR lightweight skid plate saved my *** when I went over some railroad tracks a little too fast. It ripped two bolts right out of the cradle and got banged up pretty good, but my oil pan was intact...

Another vote for a skid plate. I hit a large chunk of concrete (fell off a truck) that left a mark in the oem plate...

As the above poster said, do not go without a skid plate. I wished I had one on my 70 goat when a tree limb came out've nowhere and dented the living hell out've my new oilpan. I've thought about drilling some 1 inch holes in it to lighten it up. My .02 cents.

Definitely keep the skid guard but use one of BMR lightweight aluminum ones. It will save right at 10lbs but will still give you ample protection of the oil pan.

Here is the link to our skid guards off our website:

You can go with F/Glass Doors, trunk and hood...
