Default Issues with Koni shock installation

So me and a couple buddies were working on my GTO, and we kinda noticed a difference between the stock shocks and the new Konis. The factory ones mount into a stub, but the new shocks needs to have that stub removed. Can we somehow get the stub off without having to cut it off?

Are you talking about the fronts or the rears?

The rears, if you compare the lower mounting points on the Koni and the factory shocks, they aren't anywhere near the same. When I got a really good look at it, the piece that needs to come off looks like a separate piece from the rest of the suspension.

If you're talking about the red plastic sleeve that the bolt goes through, that stays. It will suck up into the lower mount.

Maybe you could post a picture?

Yep. That stub has to come out. I think if you tap on it it will come loose.

Put a little anti-seize in the lower mount/bolt hole threads and they will not rust solid again. Tighten to 85 ft. lbs.

Got a torch on them, and both popped right out!
