Default 2004 thermostats are ready to ship!

We have 160 degree thermostats in stock for the 2004 GTO and C5. The difference between these and the thermostats for the earlier LS1 motors is that these use your stock housing while the other ones come with a new housing. The part number is 100228 and the price is $19.99.

Will they fit truck housing and do you need special tuning for them to function properly.

I'm wondering the same thing. One hasn't been installed on a 2004 truck yet.Shoot me an e-mail when you have a chance. Maybe we can work something out.

I'm sure it would fit, I had the housing off last week to put a hypertech 180 stat in and it didn't fit , the housing on the 04 5.3 truck also takes a drop in stat. What I'm curious about is the tuning. the new hypertech tuner # 30022 allows for and recommends a 180 stat. Will 160 stat cause any issues.. ie computer thinks it's running cold so adds more fuel without adjusting anything else, making it rich, but not nesessarily more powerful.
Hypertech's for the older trucks had a 160 stat tuning option which the new one doesn't.
If you think it will work ok i'll get a few from you[ big sale for the day]

It looks like alot of the 2004s will be using the same type of thermostat so this one should work fine. You should have any issues using this with the Hypertech.
