Might want to head over to ls1gto.com for more input but the axles seem to be the second weakest link in the drivetrain. The primary in the driveshaft. BMR Fabrication has been pushing there GTO to its limits and has an interesting bit of info on it on there website.

BMR doesn't have a single stock piece in their driveline anymore, at least not that i can think of. But they did push the limits. After the axle's and driveshaft, what goes next?

Quick question, how many has anybody heard of breaking?
While BMR makes great stuff, they are also marketing the stuff they sell by saying stuff is weak. How many failures have their been in Australia? Here?
Weak links are the clutch and A4's. That is what you hear going first. Then the posi goes. Where are all the breakages from the hard parts?
There are quite a few 11 second GTO's still running the stock driveline and no failures. Just something to think about.

I cant say I follow Aussie forums to hear about any problems.
I'm not sure that a handfull of people who make a few dozen passes in the 11's can say that the stock stuff is bulletproof or not. Heck, in my Honda I ran dozens of runs from low 13's to basicly high 11's on slicks over the period of several years on the stock CV axles. It took several years for one of the stock ones to fail and the other never did. However I know people who barely ran more than stock power and broke them more than once.

Thanxs for the feed back, I was wonderig if the cts v would ever come automatic, looks like that would just be another weak point. Since IRS is here to stay, it can only get better if the manufacturers would step up and fix this problem in the engineering stages.
