There's no need to envy....
Go down to the dealer and test drive one this time. It will put a smile on your face and you'll buy one. End of story.

I think it's the CDs. Mine plays CDs that I burned 3-4 years ago perfectly. This winter I burned some music using CDs from the same batch from 3-4 years ago. (Yeah I still had some.) Those play perfect. I bought new CDs and those skipped like crazy. I found some black Memorex CDs that play without skipping though.

Just be careful for disks with a thick coating on them because of graphics on top. The thickness it adds WILL make them not play in our cars.

This car has to be one of the best Daily Driver/Hot Rod combos going. Ya get the Gen. 3 engine with all its excellent attributes and a near cadillac ride and comfort for a good price. But I do still miss the grass roots appeal of my Camaro.

Funny you mention that, when I graduate and we get situated in a house she has decided she wants one. It is between that or a C5 or C6 for her depending on what she wants. The GTO will probably be a wknd car when I move home and get a second car anyways.

I heard some people having this problem. I've burned CD-Rs from several different brands. I burn with Nero & run a slow burn speed. No problems here. I have more problems out of the computer doing the burning.

Question oil pressure and voltage gauges

Where do you get these gauges and where/how do the install on the 05?

I doubt they're a sponsor here so I'm not sure if I should post the website. I don't think any sponsor here even offers the package though. Here's a link to a big thread at LS1GTO.com about the gauges.

GTO gauge pod

The pod goes on top of the dash and replaces the panel that's just above the center vents. I think one company, JHP, has a package for the 2005's but not the 2004's yet. You guys with the 2005's already have the harness *right there* underneath that panel to hook up the gauges. This company has the gauges that are on the Australian cars so it'll look factory stock.

We have two small kids so the vettes are out of the question. And the GTO's are just as fun as my buddys vettes.

HUH?? Don't tell mine that, it might think it is overachieving and stop playing them. CD-R's are about the only thing that is ever played in mine, no problems. 2004 GTO

Actually, the Corvette and the last gen F-body are why I bought the 2004 instead of the 2005, because all the engine mods carry over. Same LS1. CAI and exhaust are different, but still not a bad deal.

I am hoping that the 05's come down in price in 8 or so months but if I find a good deal on a 04, I'll have to go with that.
Jon
Thanks for all the comments!
Wish you could put something bigger in the rear wheel wells than a 275.

Those rear wheel wells will hold a lot of tire. I've run a 11.5" ET Street in the back, with the right offset. There's very little room in the front for big tires, however.

I've had the best luck with burnt CDs in the GTO burning them slowly. Seems the slower you burn them the more reliable they are.

I guess I'm lucky. I have a silver '04 GTO that the dealer threw in the '05 hood, plus I got a better deal than any of the other dealers would give in my area. Perhaps because it is the 4th car I have bought from them. I/we also have a 2000 TA with several mods done to it.
I haven't decided what mods if any to do to the GTO yet.
