Sell the Caddy for a Goat?
I got an 04 cts-v (sig) i was thinkin about sellin it and possibly gettin a goat.... it seems caddy arent made for young drivers that like donuts and burnouts etc... and i dont really like the negative attention you get with a badass caddy seems everybody thinks im drivin' dads car jealousy a bitch aint it....... but i was wanting to know a couple things before jumpin the gun
Hows the insurance on these things? i figure it might go up a little because the lack of 4 doors
and what kind of problems do you look at with these boys.... if you drive a caddy then you cant drag it without chancing a blown rear... same with goat??
what kind of definite mods do you need? shifter, suspension mods... do they have bad wheel hop like the cts-v's?
what year is the best to try and find?

OK, I voted for the GTO. I'm sure you can see why (GTO owner). As far as dohnunst, burnouts, and racing. All cars do not really like it. If you have an auto. A dohnut will be much easier. I have an M-6, and dohnuts are not happening for me till I install my spring tuning kit. These cars really can burn three gears in stock form.
They are fun, and still have a classy look to them, IMO.
I have bolted on DR's, and not blown the rear, but have had problems with the posi grabbing for a good luanch. The spring kit I was talking about will solve that (65.00).
04's can be really cheap. But, if you wan the LS2, and 400 HP to start with. Get an 05', or 06'. I personally bought my 04' when the 05's were comming out. I do not like the fly by wire throttle controls. But, your Caddy has that now.

I voted GTO. I tried not to be biased - I've just always thought Caddy's were overpriced and on the low end of the "luxury" spectrum, and the GTO is a better value for speed. Plus I don't like the way the CTS looks.

hmm... i wonder what the results would be had you asked this question in the CTS-V forum... :-P
being a GTO owner, im sure you know which i would choose... i was actually shopping the CTS before deciding on the goat, but for the GTO's price, i would barely get into a stripped CTS 2.8...
honestly, if i had an extra 25k at the time, i'd probably be driving a CTS-V today...

I voted GTO for 1 main reason. The CTS-V you have is notorious for it's rear end problems. The only issue in the GTO is wheelhop. The GTO insurance isn't much more than a typical daily driver.
Comparing vs. the 05/06 GTO, the other factors are really personal preference. Do you need 4 doors? Do you prefer the rounded or edged lines? Is price an issue for you?
As for mods, that depends what you want to do with the car. The CTS will fit more rubber without modification. A short shifter is recommended for the GTO if you're serious about track use. Both cars can gain a lot from stiffer sways/springs. These things, however, are still much less costly than the price difference between the two cars.
Either car is a great daily driver with low 13 second capability from the factory.

i am not a salesman but i looked at an '05 GTO last week at a dealership. it has been there for a while and they are dying to sell it. it has 300 some odd miles on it. the breaker for me was the A-4 trans, but the price was $26k and some change. if it was a 6spd i would have tried to get it.

Caddy hasn't changed image
Despite GM's image hopes, Cadillacs are still NOT for young folks or ANY folks for that matter when it comes to performance cars. I don't care what they put out. The image is still lousy. Get the GTO.

How does this not make sense? You see GTO's more than CTS-V's ofcourse you see caddy's more than you see GTO's.....thats stupid. You see more pontiacs than caddy's. I really think you dont have a very strong argument. CTS-V is seen less often then a GTO.....end of story. Show me build numbers for the CTS-V and the GTO and i will admit i am wrong but i would put money on it that there are more GTO's than CTS-V's runnin around town.

Keep in mind that there are only 40,xxx GTO's built from 04' to 06'. See them more often, I think not. I still see more V Caddies than GTO's.
BTW, wait for the six speed if you want a GTO.

If I sell it im looking for about 32.5k, its got 27k miles and is in pretty damn good shape it got your normal 2 year old black car blemishes but other than that its good to go and still stock.... I was thinkin if i get an 04 GTO for around 19k, i could put a few parts on it and buy me an old truck to drive to work and what not and still come out in the positive, still more thoughts to come
