Default GTO Flowmaster

one of my friends bought the 40 series flowmasters off of pfyc.com made for the gto and he took them to a local muffler shop and they said that the mufflers wouldnt fit on the car... so i was wondering if anyone had a picture of the undercarriage of their car to show where the mufflers should go in at.... or any help would be appreciated
thanks

Edit: its a 2004 gto by the way..

they said at the shop that they thuoght that the muffler was too deep and would make the car not be able to clear anything at all and when it went over railroad tracks and stuff like that it would bottom the muffler up and tear it up in no time... so dunno

It's a tight fit, not exactly stock muffler replacement size..... flowmaster sells a kit specifically for the GTO with some GTO sized mufflers, take a look at it here http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com.../photo_05.html
thats the undercariage of an 04 GTO undergoing a new exhaust install
I recall GTO mufflers are 9 inches by 11 inches and 4 inches deep, but thats just off the top of my head..... this is my first ls1tech post, but i'm a member of ls1gto... there is also alot of information on that website, as well as this one

No the 2 fronts are the CATS and the 2 in the middle of the car are resonators. When I had my 04 I cut out the resonators and the sound was great. I also installed MAGNAFLOW Mufflers.

magnaflow makes a muffler that is the exact replacement of the stock ones. Or, just pay a muffler dude and hack those mufflers off and have yourself a homemade loudmouth!

ic... ill have to tell him about all this stuff... cuz he wants something that sounds aggressive but doesnt cackle very badly when its coming down on the rpms... and i also found out that the h pipe on his system basically isnt an h pipe... so if he got an x pipe or h pipe that should take care of some of that problem... and right now i dont really like his sound too much... he has his cats on and resonators... no mufflers but 4 12'' glasspacks... so two on each pipe and it sounds so airy and im not a fan of it... the resonators arent hooked up to anything electrically are they? so if they are taken off the check engine light wont come on or whatever it would happen to say on the computer?

Flowmaster 40's are worse than the factory mufflers for power. The only thing they are good for is making mustangs sound good. Call them and try to get flow #'s on any of their mufflers. Most good companies are happy to give you flow ratings, not embarrassed.

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT U R TALKING ABOUT..look around..Massive power cars in NHRA and NMCA, are using flows........ Flowmaster is a great Muffler...The Pontiac GTO Power Tour 2005 Giveaway car was a beast...you probably don't know the difference between a flow 80 series f-body muffler from any thing else. ..." DUH "..... BTW--Their FLOW #'s are WELL PUBLICIZED.....

Most cars I've seen making big power through flowmasters were single chamber mufflers which did little to quiet sound, but they did flow good.
