The difference in the WHOLE CAR between an old Bel Aire and the goat is light years and don't forget 25-30 MPG . What did that pig of a Chevy get? The goat is primarily a GT car that happens to run a pretty quick 1/4. You're also comparing a modded car to a stock one. It takes very little to put a LS1 goat into the mid to upper 12s and ride in comfort. An independent suspension car is a different animal and these guys that are getting 14s haven't gotten the knack. Our local track at 925 feet had many '04 in the mid to low 13s stock with 2,000+ DAs.

i ran a 13.6 @ 105 fresh off the trailer then it kept getting slower and now i know why due to heat soak. I got the car tuned and i know it should go 12's

So a stock Camaro/Firebird LS1 can get into the 12's bone stock (very rare of course_ but a stock GTO with the LS1 can't get into the 12's? Same engine...

That is correct. Weight difference, IRS, etc is the reason. A stock GTO is fairly rare and is a beautifully appointed car that rides in comfort and a Camaro/Firebird LS1 sounds like a can of loose bolts and the t-tops leak. If someone wanted the fastest stock car they wouldn't pick either one.

BTW I had t-top leaking 2 fBods before the GTO. . .

My Camaro is my first F-body, and while I have read and heard several accounts that these cars do leak through the T-tops, mine is 10 years old with almost 70,000 miles, T-tops are solid, don't leak at all.

Now on the other side, the weather strip on the driver's side is wearing out, and when the rain is very very heavy, I get about one rain drop in per minute, very minor though, barely worth mentioning.

Yeah, the F-bodies do ride pretty rough, I bet the GTO is a much more refined car. Can't get over how ugly they are though, I don't care how fast it is, it's a hideous car and looks like a cross-breed between a Neon and something else, hideous in my opinion.

The Camaro is commonly referred to as a boy racer car, so is the Vette.
