The Z28's horsepower was always underated. It managed 5.3 0-60 times and 13.7's in the 1/4. The GTO is reportedly 5.5 0-60 and under 14 seconds in the 1/4. Although the HP is rated at 350 and the TQ at 360 the GTO weighs a whopping 400 lbs. more, 3,725 vs. 3,306.

Exactly! Remember that for every 100lb extra you're losing about a tenth in the quarter mile, so the extra 400lb. would mean the new Goat could be around 3-4 tenths slower than a TA or Camaro.

um, it's alittle more than that I would think, what's the cam and gear selection look like?
A fully loaded TA Vert weighs 3800+, yest still runs 13s all day. do it's more than just the weight.

I'll wait for the first ones off the line to get some runs in. I am trying to talk my wife into one next year.

The GTO is supposed to have the same trans as the Z06. That would make the gearing better IMO and help out with the cars performance a good deal.

I would think it would be like comparing the LT1 Caprice to the LT1 Camaro. Both formidable cars. I can't wait till one hits the streets in my town so I can see for myself.

This car is a good idea. As fast as the last ss camaro's but with much more refinement. Im not looking for another ruff, harsh car. A new Gto with a mild engine package and a Whipple blower would be sweet, easy to handle abd feel like a three series BMW with some corvette like *****.

The bottom line is that your getting a LS1, this means that the possibilities are endless. Picture a heads and cam package with a little Nos system.
Talk about a fast family car. American mucle is where it's at.
