Default So I got a big promotion at work and am looking at a few different cars...

So my salary basically doubled at work and after I pad my savings for a few months I'd like to pick up a new toy...

Here's the different car's I'm considering right now, I know this is an LS based site but try to be objective lol. Also, if you have any other suggestions let me hear em, I'm all ears.

I'd like to stay between 30K-40K and I'd like to stay relatively new...

So I'm looking at

2012 5.0 Mustang GT (Brand New)
2008-2009 Mustang Shelby GT500 (Under 10K miles)
2008-2009 LS3 Chevrolet Corvette (Under 10K or so miles)

Not really considering the new Camaro because of it's heft. I know the Shelby is up there too, but it's a shelby and you can get 700 RWHP out of them rather easily...

So what do you guys think?

None of the above.

Z06 Corvette, 505hp of LS7 v8 awesomeness. I'd probably do a seat swap and maybe a rollbar/5 point harness install while I was at it. I cannot stand the stock seats.

True... for 40k, no reason you couldn't get a pretty clean '06 Z06.

Really? I was thinking they were still like well over $40K for the 06's... hmm I'll have to check that out.

Nope, I bought my clean, black, with black wheels, 06 Z over a year ago for $39K, with only 7200 miles and full GMPP bumper to bumper warranty, yes I stole it, but there are deals out there.

I LOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE my C6 Z, and the car simply rocks!!

You can now pick up 06 Zs with under 20K miles on them for $40K, just have to keep you eyes peeled and be patient, and when you find it POUNCE ON IT IT!!!!

You could never go wrong with an LS3 Vette, my buddy Andrew took his M6 Vette down the quarter at 11.7 at 119mph. He recently picked up an auto LS3 Vette that was turning 120+mph traps. But... If you get anything from Ford, don't get anything with a gay pony on it. Either a Snake, or go home lol

A local stealership sold a '06 z06 here a while back for 36k with 2k miles on it. 1 owner clean *** car.. It was jet black. If I did not already purchase the '11 GT I would own that car right now.

Out of your options though I would probably spring for the LS3 vette or '11 GT.

Check corvetteforum. I see 06 z06's go for 33-40k all day. None of then usually have more than 15k miles on them. I saw a guy selling an 06 victory red one with 19/20 iforged classics for 36k on my local cl. I see ls2 vettes go for around 25k all day

Shelby. See those for $33k+ everyday. 5.4L, supercharged, collectible, and all that new car depreciation is gone. Do it.

I would say, forget the toy and save a little longer for a house. This is if you do not already own.....just my thoughts.

The price of the C6 Z06 has fallen like a rock since the release of the Grand Sport model, which has everything the Z06 has minus the LS7. Finding one for under $40K is getting to be pretty easy now.

If I had that budget, I'd get a truck and a C5 or G8 GT or something (even a LS2 C6 if the truck was cheap enough), lol.

Just my opinion

C6Z for sure at that price range. I like all the cars on your list though. You can't go wrong with any of them but I do think the C6Z is the best choice.
