Default SLC "Supercar" build on "GEARZ" (Stacy David)

Wanted to note that this past week Gearz began their SLC Supercar build. This episode & continuing episodes are intersting to me because the SLC is a true Supercar, with NASA racing heritage & is an actual vehicle, not a replica. The SLC is bought as a roller requiring paint, interior, drivetrain, cooling, oiling, AC assy. Looks pretty cool & is relatively affordable.

This week Stacy installed the LS7/Porsche 997 Twin Turbo LSD Transaxle assy. This car is saweet!. Gonna have to move it up on my list of cars to own & it's even better that it gets home built.

Not to self: Remove $300,000+ used Saleen S7 for a $70,000 home build SLC project.

Still can't get myself to remove the Ford GT from atop the list, 'cuz it's just bad-a$$ cool.

I like the looks of the FFR-GTM2 better; but that's a personal opinion.

Looks like a helluva sweet machine. Insanely beautiful welds/craftsmanship on that chassis.

I've been DVR'ing the show for a while now and was excited to see the SLC build. I didn't know GM had a program where if you buy a Z06/ZR1 or a crate LS7/LS9 you could pay a little extra and build it hands-on yourself at GM Performance Division using their tools. You even get to put your name on the build sheet, engine, etc. from what they showed. That's awesome but everything they're doing is too deep of pockets for me.

^Saw that last night were he went into the factory and hand built his own LS7. Pretty cool and I had no idea it existed. Interested to see a finished product of the car. What show did Stacy David use to be on? Its been years since I watched any of the car shows on speed..

Yah, it's pricey. That 997 Porsche Transaxle w/LSD is a good chunk of change, as well. Probably in the $6-$8K range after modification. Although, as a true Supercar, it's cheap. Want to see more detail regarding the seats. So, far we've seen a shell of a seat. They're gonna have to be leather or alcantara covered w/ seat foam in order to meet Supercar status. Based on all of the other attention to detail, they probably will be.

That car is going to be a monster. He should have gone for the LS9 though.

Stacey David builds some nice cars/trucks, I've been watching his show's for years.

^ I prefer his show over the others because he doesn't throw in cheap plugs just because someone gives him a product and the producers don't seem to go out of their way to plug products. The plug is the project itself and the brief mention of the components... IMO: We know these parts exist, you shouldn't be beating us over the head with frickin Loctite plugs every 5 seconds.

I missed the drivetrain one. I have it set on DVR and it hasn't recorded yet. I'm sure I'll catch it sooner or later. I've always liked him, he's a very talented guy.

My guess is that the seats are the major question that most have. Let's hope they address 'em. (...from above post)

Yah, that's what soured me on watching HP. The "Powerblock" producers obviously troll this site for content, but, still give anyone w/ a buck the air time. Their "sponsored" LS based engine builds have produced laughable numbers. Yet, the sponsor for that week & Galley gloat as if the'yve actually accomplished something worthy.

He knows his stuff and does all his own work, he's stated that several times on his site. That's why it takes so long for his projects to get done.

He started the "Trucks" show... had a MAJOR falling out with the producers and left. Then started his own production company/TV show.

It will be a monster for a little bit until they crush it like all the other cars.

A cool build for sure, but not sure if you guys knew there is a crazier variation of the same car being built by a Tech member, with lots more power than a stock LS7. Also further along than David's.

Just thought you might be interested.

HKE, WCCH, Jenvey 468ci Build...
