I've been wanting the Shield 9mm for a few years now. For its size IMO it's a comfortable gun to shoot and I'm pretty accurate with it. I have a G19 that I carry and while I carry IWB and you cant tell, I still want a smaller framed gun for summer months when I'm only wearing a tshirt and shorts.

My brother like a lot of the guys in the thread carries an xds 9mm. I'm not too big on the gun, IMO it feels very top heavy.

Not a fan of the XD series either. The only Glock I've shot is the .380 version we rented for my wife to shoot. I think it had more recoil than the 9mm Shield.

i was turned off the XD's after I saw they had to imprint 'GRIP ZONE' on their grips. Pathetic.

I bought my XDm .40 because it was a stupid deal, thought I might end up trading or flipping it but ended up really liking it. Great shooting pistol, easy to take down and clean, and really just does everything I need it to very well.

Only thing I would change about it is the addition of some night sights and some pinky extensions for the compact mags.

I too have a XD9S in 3.3" as a CC via IWB that fits snugly in majority of apnts long as there's a belt . its all black. GF got me a black jacket with inner shoulder holster so I can carry it when I have my shirt tucked.

been thinking of getting a secondary handgun, and been eyeing at the shield m&p

They have "GRIP ZONE" on the XD Mod.2. Doesn't show up anywhere, at the moment, on their other pistols.

Eh, that's all I was ever interested in when doing my own research for a carry. Love them otherwise.

I carry either a shield 9mm or a snub nose ruger .357. Depending what I'm wearing.

I carried a Glock 19 Gen 4 for about 2 years but recently sold it off and picked up a Colt Lightweight Commander 1911 and have been carrying it for about 2-3 months now. Its a bit heavier than the Glock was but has an aluminum frame and a 4.25" barrel so compared to a steel framed full length 1911 its a night and day difference in weight there. Might pick up another Glock in the future, just can't decide which model I want to try next. I'll be keeping the 1911 though, its way too nice to consider selling.

I'm envious of that gun. There are so many nice 1911's out there that it's hard to decide on one. I really like the Sig's, Colt's, Smith and Wesson's, and even the older Para's.

I looked at my XDm Compact last night and didn't see any dumb writing on the grips.

I'll have to look into them further. Every one I saw at a gun store all had grip zone on them. i carry a g19, but i am not one of those that thinks glocks are the one and only...

It is an absolutely fantastic shooting and looking gun. Just enough cosmetic work to make it feel like a brand new gun, but still keeping the traditional old school 1911 look and feel as well. I've shot several 1911's and this one is by far my favorite. I had planned on buying a cheaper model just because I wanted a 1911 of my own but Im very glad I went ahead and spent the money up front for the Colt. I don't think this one will ever be sold as long as I'm alive.

I dont think I'd want to carry a 1911. IMO they're too heavy but I'm sure others will disagree. Then again, I've never tried to carry one but I think a heavy gun combined with a heavy round won't be comfortable.

It's weird, but I don't like the idea of carrying an external hammer pistol. IMO there are so many better choices in .45 for protection.

I have a Colt 1911 and love it, great shooting gun and have it in my basement safe as a go to gun. But would never carry it...too heavy, low capacity, external hammer and I'm just not used to a manual safety.
