Thumbs down Lowes Valspar Paint..

This s**t STINKS!!!!!!!

Normally I don't mind the smell of paint..... at all.... Not even pray paint bothers me.. but this STINKS!! I painted my office this past weekend, and I can't get the frickin smell out of here! Smells like hot/burning plastic!! It's not the computer.... I've been trapped in here all weekend playing Crysis, last night was a 9 hr stint, and not that stench is stuck to my tounge! My cigarettes even taste like the darn paint! That 9 hour stint I did last night felt like 2 hours, and I had three Apple cinnamon candles burning, on top of my smoking like a chimney, AND HAVING THE WINDOW OPEN FOR THREE DAYS!!! It smelled fine last night, woke up this morning and that paint smell over powered everything else! I left the door open when I went to work today, came home and the WHOLE HOUSE SMELLED like that paint!!! I sprayed the walls down w/ Ozium today and THAT didn't even work!!

This is a daemon!!! I'll get the cheap Wall-Mart paint next time! Just a fair warning to whom ever is planning a paint project in the near future.. DON'T GET VALSPAR FROM LOWES!! It's also EXPENSIVE... More than I thought it would be..

Which one was it? It shouldn't have any smell except for the Valspar Duramax because it is exterior that is self priming. I work at Lowes in the paint dept and am pretty knowledgeable about the Valspar paint so i'll try to help you out.

Protip: Open your paint can. If it smells like the burning ******* of satan (as opposed to...paint smell), don't use it.

^^ It was their interior Valspar.. He mixed it fresh for me.. I like the color, High Speed Steel aka grayish, but the smell HAS TO GO!

^ I always use Porter Paints. Granted it is more expensive than the cheap stuff, but it goes on a lot easier, looks better IMO, cleans up easy, and just gives me a much better result. I hate painting, but if I'm going to go through all that effort, I might as well spend an extra $20 and get the results I want.

I've only used their primer gray from a can. The texture seemed to be thicker than a Krylon primer I had.

i spent one of my summer's painting a couple years ago and my boss wouldn't use anything as far as latex interior paint other than Sherwin William's Cashmere line

i've applied lots of different brands of paint including valspar paints and as far as the smell and application goes Cashmere is some good ****, and most of the other brands you get from menards, lowes, walmart, fleetfarm, home depot i've found to be absolute garbage. But then again people dont want to spend more than 25 bucks for a gallon of paint, With the cashmere more along the lines of 45-50 bucks a gallon
