Default At wits end with this G8

I'm ready to go park this damn car in a field and hope a fucking tornado takes this car.

Bought it Nov 2011 CERTIFIED USED with 19,000miles and so far heres everything thats been wrong:

Windsheild wiper mangled, and cowl came loose.

Radio had no screws it in and just about fell out of the dash.

All the interior trim peices around console came off because of all the missing pins.

Had the above fixed (or so we thought) go to NC and what happens? the dumbass tech that fixed the radio didnt bother ordering any new pins and left a few screws missing alying in the carpet and all the pannels fell off AGAIN

The prior dipshit took all the badges off and no owners manual either

The night we brought it home, the horn was unbolted, banging the shit out of the header.

The wire loom was totally unclpped and dangling down by the header as well.

The lifters tick very loudly at start up

Used a quart of oil thus far in only 5k miles

The lower control arms have been "popping" and clunking

Vibration/shake in steering wheel and pulsation in the brakes

The blower motor randomly blows harder momentarilly then stops

car has had FOUR alignment and car still pulls either left/right

Dealer replacing front strut bearings etc because of "memory steer" complaints

Now we have a new problem!! When you start the car cold and put it in D the car shakes and vibrates BAD and makes an AWFUL grinding groaning noise for 10-30 seconds then goes away. Seems to be in conjuction with the transflare and 2-3 problem..

Car currently has 24k miles. So in 5k miles we have had all these problems, countless trips back to the dealer, 3 rental cars, time wasted etc.

We are about ready to see if the stealership will either buy this car back or I'm afraid we are gonna have to sue and lemon law this POS.

Man that thing sounds like its been abused. I don't know it you can Lemon law it unless it go's back for the same thing 3times(I'm not sure). I do know that the squeaky wheel get the grease. It's GM certified so I would be on the phone with GM and don't take no for an answer because they will tell you no to try and blow you off.

Did you test drive it or look it over before you bought it?

You can lemon law a used vehicle from my understanding.

sounds like previous owner beat the hell out of it, some of those things I could see the CPO process missing others I cant. the lower contral arms have a TSB out for popping noise. That should be an easy fix. the trans flare has a TSB as well and should be easily fixed.

There were some issues with DOD/AFM lifters as well and I think there is a TSB on those as well.

most of the concerns should be able to be addressed, others not so much.

That shit sucks, my old Camaro that had over 135K drove better. The original owner raped it while no one was looking or something cause that G8 is practically new still.

Damn that sucks. I heard of all your stated problems, but never all on the same car!! Did the existing warranties transferer over to you? Sounds like you may need to go door to door of all the local GM dealers and make one of them fix it all.

yep, looked it over, and test drove it. The problem was it was night, cold, and raining.

Car has 3yr/36k mile warranty, plus the certified used warranty and the typical 5yr/100k mile warrant from factory. Warranties havent done us much good though. the interior pannels were fixed as well as the wipers and cowl but thats all thus far.

Dealer said they know all about the LCA and lifters but dont want to do anything about it, they said it's not a problem at this time.

This cars a certified peice of shit is what it is

id be definitely calling GM, contacting that dealerships used car manager and telling/forcing them to take it back, contacting whatever source for cars that are pieces of shit when purchased through dealers...if nothing else works, and you are still upset about it, then i guess it will have to go "missing" and LS1 members will be seeing alot of G8GT parts F/S and you will recieve a nice cheque

Yupp, I agree. Stay in their ear until they fix it. If they don't fix it sue (or at least threaten to).

sounds like u got burned on this deal, to bad u only had 3 days or 150 miles to turn it back in. I'd take it to another service dept get things fixed and trade it in at a none GM dealer.

It still falls under the magnussen moss act. You would have to look up the specific requirements of it though.

CPO car - I'd be bitching up a storm up and down all over that dealership if they wouldn't buy it back.

That shit is ridiculous.

Sue if they won't take it back and offer you another vehicle. I'm not a suit happy person one bit but with a new car like that it shouldn't have any of those problems.

Well just called to check on the car.

They have the front strut bearing and plates replaced, and have done another alignment. Service mngr felt the vibration and they are going to let it cool down again and hook it up to the computer when it does it.

One tech suggested we had "bad winter gas" for the vibration laugh! The service mngr figured that was total BS and put someone else on the job.

I guess we shall see how this goes...

I dont see how being debaged is a bad thing? But I guess thats opinion. Dealer should have provided the manual with the car. Sounds like a crappy dealer. When I buy a used car I make the dealer give me two keys, floor mats, owners manual, etc at no cost as it should be provided when buying a car.

How did the horn hit the header? Must have been almost dragging on the ground if it hit the header! Prior owner must have had a stereo and alarm system that he took with him.

What wireloom was near the header?

Lifter tick could be a DOD lifter about to fail... its happened more then a few times. Dealers cover it under warranty.

Lower control arms should be covered by the dealer. GM has a kit of redesigned arms that fixes this problem under warranty.

HVAC system drives me nuts as well... mind of its own.

Pedders has some alignment pieces that really allow the alignment tech to dial in the settings. The OEM adjustment range is narrow in comparison so a good alignment may not be possible. It varies car to car as to how close you can get it before you need adjusters.

Brake rotors need to be replaced, common problem. DBA is a good option with Hawk pads makes it much better.

Strut bearings are a common problem as well. Pretty much all G8's need them replaced with better pieces.

There is a TCM update for the trans, did the dealer flash it? If not a tune gets rid of most of the trans annoyances.

All the software updates have been performed as well.

The horn that is mounted behind the driver side shock tower by the brake booster was the one dangling, and whatever that loom is thats down there as well. It was simply unclipped from its harness and just hanging there.

Dealer knows about the TSB for the lifters and LCA's but have yet to offer to replace them or anything.

All software updates have been done as well.

Ohh gotcha the alarm horn or whatever that is not the actual horns on the front of the car.

I would try a different dealer, the ones around here have fixed many lower control arm and lifter issues under warranty. There is an issue with the front cover seal on the 6L80 if I recall some were installed wrong which should be covered under warranty. THey have an updated kit for that too.

GM must have a secret memo out to not honor any G8 on warranty claims....
