Chlorinated vs. Non-chlorinated Brake Cleaner.....
What the hell is the difference?
I dunno, maybe I'm just being stupid here and missing the obvious, but what are the advantages/disadvantages between these two? Which one is better for cleaning purposes? I'm guessing the chlorinated is probably stronger.

dope--agreed. i usually use the flammable stuff vs non flammable as well. although i always have flamable around anyway in case i need to check for vacuum leaks and what not.

Because chloride can combine with H20 to make HCL (hydrochloric acid). Granted it won't be very concentrated but it'll be enough to burn/irritate your mucosal membranes (eyes, nose, mouth, etc) if you were to get it in those areas.

I've never seen non-flammable brake cleaner. Weird.

Chlorinated is for people that want to clean brakes with their brake cleaner. Non-chlorinated is for people who want to save the environment with their dirty brakes.

i know from experience that the non-chlorinated stuff burns like hell too.

Funny, because I was recently thinking about this thread that I started back in 1/05 when I had to buy some more brake cleaner. Of course, I bought the Chlorinated!
